A new venue has been announced for the invited staged reading of Steve Monarque's THAT'S LIFE, a full-length play with music, directed by Mel Johnson Jr.

The Beach Boys-Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductees and America's first pop band to reach the 50-year milestone-have become the world's favorite soundtrack to summer with their classic hits including 'Fun, Fun, Fun,' 'I Get Around,' 'Help Me Rhonda,' 'California Girls,' the Grammy-nominated 'Good Vibrations,' and the chart-topping 'Kokomo.'

The York Theatre Company in association with Documentary Arts presents the world premiere of the new musical Lonesome Blues, based on the true story of legendary bluesman Blind Lemon Jefferson, created by Alan Govenar (Texas in Paris) and Akin Babatunde (Blind Lemon Blues), directed by Katherine Owens (How Is It That We Live or Shakey Jake + Alice), performed by Akin Babatunde with David Weiss on guitar.

Grammy and Brit Award winning musician Midge Ure will release his new album Orchestrated in North America on June 8th. This remarkable new album features stunningly reimagined orchestrated versions of Ultravox hits and Midge Ure classics including 'Vienna', 'Dancing with Tears In My Eyes', and 'If I Was'. Musician, singer-songwriter, producer and activist, Midge Ure has worn many musical hats over the years; however, working on a fully orchestrated album has been a new venture for Midge. Said Midge: 'The record took eighteen months to make, but a lifetime of work to achieve.' The set will be released by BMG on CD and clear vinyl.                                                                                                                                         

Continuing the momentum created with the current season launch of its Music Knows No Borders series, Executive Director Thor Steingraber unveils the Younes and Soraya Nazarian Center for the Performing Arts' 2018-19 Season, which features four world premieres, two American premieres, several of the world's greatest orchestras, innovative jazz programs, two tributes to Hollywood legends, Broadway classics plus artists from 18 different nations who will appear on stage at The Soraya next season.  New Subscription Series tickets will go on sale May 1, 2018.

The Artistic Home Ensemble will present the Chicago premiere of Lauren Gunderson's ADA AND THE ENGINE as the final entry in its three-play 2018-19 season, according to company Artistic Director Kathy Scambiatterra, who announced the season today. The 36-year-old Gunderson was the most-produced playwright in America during 2017, according to American Theatre Magazine.

Two River Theater, under the leadership of Artistic Director John Dias and Managing Director Michael Hurst, announces the lineup of productions for its 25th Anniversary Season in 2018/19, which will feature eight productions including world premieres, musicals, modern classics, and theater for family audiences.

Molissa Fenley and Company, in collaboration with percussionist Frank Cassara and violist Ralph Farris, will present an evening of dance and live music, with scores by four contemporary composers. The program features four dances from Fenley's Water Table, three of which are New York premieres. The program also includes a new configuration of Fenley's 1979 work Mix. En Garde Arts presents Asiimwe Deborah Kawe and Sean Christopher Lewis's Red Hills, returning the company to its trailblazing site-specific origins with a work that speaks "precisely to its time" (Pittsburgh Post-Gazette). This haunting two-person play follows an American and a Rwandan who, as teens during the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi in Rwanda, shared a chance encounter that changed them forever. En Garde, with director Katie Pearl, has adapted Red Hills to a New York-specific space: an empty floor in a downtown office building one block from Wall Street, where it will run from June 6-July 1.

The Grammy-winning Kronos Quartet returns to D.C. on April 19, 2018 with long-time collaborator Wu Man to perform their major collaborative work, A Chinese Home, at Lisner Auditorium, presented by Washington Performing Arts. The program was conceived by pipa virtuoso Wu Man, Kronos' Artistic Director David Harrington, and acclaimed stage and film director Chen Shi-Zheng (The Peony Pavilion, Dark Matter, The Bonesetter's Daughter).

The Stage Directors and Choreographers Foundation, the not-for-profit foundation of Stage Directors and Choreographers Society (SDC), honored acclaimed Director Julie Taymor with the distinguished 2018 'Mr. Abbott' Award for outstanding artistry and creativity over the course of her career.
