Beth Morrison Projects (BMP) and HERE have announced programming for the second annual PROTOTYPE: Opera/Theatre/Now festival, running January 8-18, 2014.

The MacDowell Colony will award composer and lyricist Stephen Sondheim with its 54th Edward MacDowell Medal on Sunday, August 11. The MacDowell Colony, the nation's first artist residency program, has awarded the medal annually since 1960 to an individual artist who has made an outstanding contribution to his or her field. This year marks the first time a luminary has been chosen from the realm of musical theatre and Sondheim's generous offering of his talents to the stage made him a clear choice.

The Pasadena Playhouse announced the full schedule for its new summer festival, CIRQUE-A-PALOOZA - Summer Spectacle & Comic Calamity, created and directed by Stefan Haves. Mainstage feature acts will include two performances of magician/entertainer Justin Willman's Tricked Out, Frank Ferrante's one-man show An Evening With Groucho and a special night with some of the greatest magicians of The Magic Castle. Road to Palooza: A Variety Show Spectacular will also be a Mainstage event for five performances featuring a number of the amazing acts playing the festival and rotating special guest performers. The Carrie Hamilton Theatre will host an eclectic variety of specialty acts over the three-week period. The CIRQUE-A-PALOOZA festival will launch on July 19 and perform through August 11, 2013.

The Atlanta Symphony Orchestra's Talent Development Program, which supports the musical development of young African-American and Latino students, will hold its annual Spring Recitals on Sunday, April 21, 2013, at 4:00 p.m. at Porter Sanford III Performing Arts & Community Center and Saturday, April 27, 2013, at 4:00 p.m. at Southwest Arts Center.
