The Southbank Centre marked its 75th anniversary with the Pin Drop, a 20-metre-high temporary installation by Gareth Pugh and Carson McColl, kicking off YOU ARE HERE, a sitewide takeover at Europe's largest arts centre.
Adventure Theatre MTC received $250,000 in Maryland legislative bond funding for theatre and lobby renovations at its Glen Echo location, and launched a matching campaign targeting an additional $250,000 for its 75th anniversary season.
The Southbank Centre's longest-running festival Poetry International Festival returns (Friday 10 – Sunday 12 July) and includes a celebration of the life and work of the trailblazing poet Benjamin Zephaniah.

Continuing their signature new plays based on pivotal historical moments in our region, Borderlands Theater presents a timely new drama exploring the origins of the sanctuary movement. Written by Milta Ortiz, who penned 2015's award winning Mas, about the banning of ethnic studies classes in T.U.S.D., Sanctuary is based on the people and events leading up to the 1980's Sanctuary movement that ignited in Tucson when concerned citizens took a radical moral stand in support of people fleeing unimaginable violence.
Lincoln Center's epic and sweeping production of The King and I is Broadway done right and not to be missed!
Bernard Slade. Name sound familiar? Probably not. How about 'Bewitched,' 'The Flying Nun,' 'The Partridge Family,' 'Bridget Loves Bernie?' Slade and all of those mid-1900 television shows do have a connection. He developed, authored or worked on all of them!
Broadway fans had plenty of reasons to celebrate this year, with dozens of shows having opened since January, hundreds of actors having made their debuts, and many more having returned to the stage for critically acclaimed performances.
