From October 8 to 25, Theater for the New City will present the world premiere of a new play by Mario Fratti, 'Wives,' in a double-bill with his breakthrough play, 'The Academy.' Taken together, the two plays illustrate the changing nature of the battle of the sexes between the postwar period and now. The two-part evening is directed by actor/director Stephan Morrow, who plays the instructor of a school for gigolos in 'The Academy.'

The New York Times chose Sister Sylvester's recent work, Dead Behind These Eyes as a critic's pick and Time Out called their The Maids' The Maids "genuinely subversive." They Are Gone But Here I Must Remain, will be performed September 3rd, open on September  4th and continue September  5th, 10th, 11th, 12th, 17th, 18th and 19th at 8PM. Following a successful Spring/Summer tour, London Classic Theatre's Artistic Director Michael Cabot today announces a 14-week extension of Alan Ayckbourn's Absent Friends, as part of the company's 15th Anniversary Season. In its most ambitious programme to date, the company will open a second leg of Absent Friends on 19 August 2015, followed by a 12-week UK & Ireland tour of Samuel Beckett's Waiting for Godot from 9 September 2015.

DMI Soundtracks has announced the immediate availability on iTunes of the New Broadway Cast Recording for Gigi, Alan Jay Lerner and Frederick Loewe's beloved Oscar and Tony Award-winning musical comedy.  The recording was produced and engineered by six-time Grammy Award winner Frank Filipetti.  The CD is slated for release in June.

Minneapolis Musical Theatre (MMT) concludes its 2014-2015 season with Happy Days-A New Musical making its area premiere tonight, April 24-May 17, 2015 at Hennepin Theatre Trust's New Century Theatre. Based on the hit ABC television show 'Happy Days,' the musical features a book by the series' original creator Garry Marshall, with music and lyrics by Oscar, Grammy and Golden Globe winner Paul Williams. Happy Days is directed by longtime Twin Cities' director and actor Joe Hendren working with MMT's artistic director, Christian Unser.

Gypsy is a 1959 musical with music by Jule Styne, lyrics by Stephen Sondheim, and a book by Arthur Laurents. Gypsy is loosely based on the 1954 memoirs of Gypsy Rose Lee, the famous striptease artist, and focuses on her mother, Rose, whose name has become synonymous with 'the ultimate show business mother.' It follows the dreams and efforts of Rose to raise two daughters to perform onstage and casts an affectionate eye on the hardships of show business life. The character of Louise is based on Lee, and the character of June is based on Lee's sister, the actress June Havoc.

It's just been announced that DMI Records (Tena Clark, Founder and CEO; Kevin Gore, President and COO) will produce the new Broadway Cast Recording of Gigi, the Alan Jay Lerner and Frederick Loewe Oscar® and Tony Award-winning musical comedy. The recording will be produced and engineered by six-time Grammy Award winner Frank Filipetti. The cast of Gigi will go into the studio tomorrow, Sunday, March 22 to record the album, which is slated for a June release.

It's cloudy and grey in Nashville today, which is perhaps fitting as people from all over gather to mourn the passing of Bernie Arnold, the matriarch of the first family of Nashville theater. But being mournful is the last thing you can come up with when remembering Bernie and her late, devoted husband, Henry Arnold (known as 'Buddy' to his legions of fans, students and admirers). Rather, any memory of the revered pair of theatrical talents is limned with joy, amazement and unbridled admiration.
