BIGFOOT RIPPED MY DOG IN HALF I SAW IT Will Come to Edinburgh Fringe

by Stephi Wild - Apr 1, 2026

Dissecting how local paranoia is manufactured and the intoxicating pull of conspiracy culture, triple Fringe First Award winners Xhloe and Natasha's new show delves into the dark side of American mythos and the theatre of mass distraction.

Review: 'JOSEPHINE' & 'PAGLIACCI' at Union Avenue Opera

by Steve Callahan - Jul 28, 2025

A powerful double-bill. 'Josephine' is a stunning mini-biography of a great star; 'Pagliacci' is an overpoweringly passionate step into verismo opera.

Review: GUYS AND DOLLS at Summer Stock Austin

by Joni Lorraine - Aug 7, 2024

It’s Summer! It’s HOT! It’s that usual time of the year when, in other parts of the country, people are enjoying walks on the beach or picnicking. Here in Texas, it’s too hot even for that, so do what any sane person would do and go see a play in a freezing cold theatre! Impact Arts has just the cure for your need to cool off AND have fun.

BWW Review: BALLETX ~ EXUBERANCE AND EXTRAORDINARY TECHNIQUE at Segerstrom Center For The Arts

by Valerie-Jean Miller - Oct 23, 2021

For me, an exciting evening in the theater and in the world of ballet. The name Ballet'X' connotes a modern term denoting non-gendered, non-binary, and inclusivity. I instantly discerned that this company was on top of the latest consciousness, and has incorporated not only this, but the latest trend of mixing forms of dance together, the latest in staging and technology, and superbly trained young, up-and-coming dancers. The program for the evening consisted of three new works, by three diverse, world-renowned choreographers, all set on the dancers in the company. This young company, based in Philadelphia, is amazingly together with an eclectic repertoire, presenting a clean, fully executed array of interesting choreography and interpretations.

BWW Review: The 24-Hour Plays Viral Monologues Offer a Dose of Humor and Heartbreak

by Amanda Prahl - Apr 4, 2020

As the shutdowns continue and it becomes increasingly obvious that a?oeregulara?? theatre isn't starting back up as soon as we'd hoped, it's also increasingly obvious that adjusted, adapted performances like these are more important than ever.

BWW Interview: Joseph McGrath, Artistic Director of Tucson's Rogue Theatre

by Jeanmarie Simpson - Jul 10, 2019

There is tremendous support in our audience for bringing younger people into the theatre, and we're having some success in that regard. I'm positive, but I'm also unsure of where we are headed with digital technologies and what they mean for our industry and the larger culture. Our challenge, I suppose, is to be adaptive to what comes along without giving up the wisdom and glories of the past.
