Roxey Ballet, New Jersey's preeminent contemporary dance company, has announced an exciting program for the Spring 2017 season, including a full program of community engagement events to be held in Roxey Ballet's Canal Studio Theatre.

The Roxey Ballet Company has announced auditions for Classic Stories featuring 'Cinderella'. Open auditions are held in Roxey Ballet's Canal Studios on January 14, 2017. Artists ages 4-18 are encouraged to attend.

On Sunday, January 22, 2017 at 7:30pm, Works & Process at the Guggenheim offers a behind-the-scenes look at WAR PAINT, the new musical by librettist Doug Wright, composer Scott Frankel, lyricist Michael Korie, and director Michael Greif in advance of the Broadway opening on April 6, 2017.

Composer Robert Sirota is curating a new season-long series at National Sawdust (80 N 6th St). Titled Bridging the Gap, the series will feature concerts of chamber, choral, and solo works which Sirota has crafted to explore the student/teacher, mentor/mentee relationships between generations of composers. Each concert will be preceded by a discussion with composer mentors, mentees, and performers, led by a distinguished thought leader. The concerts themselves will include performances of works by both younger composers and the teachers who have influenced their development.

This evening, in a celebration attended by approximately 900 theatre artists, staff, critics, and friends, Theatre Philadelphia distributed 27 awards at the 2016 Barrymore Awards for Excellence in Theatre, including the first-ever Victory Foundation Award for Outstanding Theatre Education Program.

CASA 0101 Theater, Josefina Lopez, Artistic Director and the newly formed production company, Angel City Theater Ensemble (ACTE), Vance Valencia, Founder, will present the Los Angeles Premiere of the critically acclaimed play, MARIELA IN THE DESERT, written by Karen Zacarias, directed by Robert Beltran (Star Trek:  Voyager; Zoot Suit; Eating Raoul).  The production will be presented for a five-week run on the theater's Main Stage located at 2102 East First Street (at St. Louis Street), Boyle Heights, CA  90033 on Fridays and Saturdays at 8:00 p.m. and on Sundays at 5:00 p.m., November 4 - December 11, 2016.  There will be no performances on Thanksgiving Weekend, November 25th, 26th and 27th.

Roxey Ballet has been selected to receive funding from the Geraldine R. Dodge Foundation to facilitate the Dance to Learn curriculum in schools. Dance to Learn is a four-year interdisciplinary and inclusive dance curriculum with the goal to advance dance education in schools and community settings. Funding provided by the VSA Performing Arts Access for Kids Program on behalf of the Kennedy Center has allowed the program to expand exponentially to involve the entire school population in dance education during the 2016-17 school year!

Abhinaya Dance Company of San Jose, the company that brought 'Arjuna - A Warrior's Tale' to life in 2014 to critical acclaim now presents'Vaanara Leela - Monkeys in the Ramayana'. The Ramayana is one of the two major Sanskrit epics from Hindu mythology describing Prince Rama's journey.

Adapted from Dick King-Smith's much-loved children's novel which inspired the Oscar-winning 1995 film, Babe, The Sheep-Pig will be brought to life on stage in an enchanting new production, embarking on a major UK Tour in 2017 following a Christmas season at Polka Theatre. Featuring stunning puppetry, an original score and an utterly charming 'baa-ber sheep' quartet, the tour will launch from West Yorkshire Playhouse on Monday 13 February and run until September 2017.
