Goodman Theatre, in collaboration with Chicago's various off-Loop theaters and Northwestern University, unveils partial programming in its spring 2015 citywide "August Wilson Celebration" -- an extensive retrospective of the late playwright's life, artistry and influence on American culture. The seven-week Celebration takes place in March and April 2015 on dual landmark occasions: the 70th anniversary of the Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright's birth and the 10th anniversary of his death.

The Muny announced today the directors, choreographers and music directors for the Muny's 2015 Season, which opens on June 15 with My Fair Lady. Happy Birthday Angela Lansbury! Lansbury - who returned to Broadway in this year's revival of THE BEST MAN - has enjoyed an unprecedented career, first as a star of motion pictures, and then as an award-winning stage actor in New York and London. She appeared as Madame Armfeldt in the 2009 revival of A Little Night Music, and before that as Madame Arcati in the 2009 revival of Noel Coward's Blithe Spirit, for which she won her fifth Tony Award, as well as Drama Desk and Outer Critics Circle Awards. She performed in 2006 in Terrence McNally's Deuce, for which she was also nominated for a Tony Award. She made her Broadway debut in 1957 as Bert Lahr's wife in Hotel Paradiso. In 1960, she returned to Broadway as Joan Plowright's mother in the season's most acclaimed drama, A Taste of Honey, by Shelagh Delaney. A year later, she starred in her first musical, Anyone Can Whistle. Lansbury returned to Broadway in triumph in 1966 in Mame, for which she won her first Tony Award.

Bay Area Cabaret, devoted to presenting audiences with top performers who expand the definition of cabaret, enters its 11th season this fall with a sparkling lineup at the Fairmont San Francisco's historic Venetian Room. The world premiere production of the brand new musical comedy Bullets Over Broadway, written by Woody Allen and based on the screenplay by Allen and Douglas McGrath for the 1994 film, will begin preview performances tomorrow, March 11 and officially open Thursday, April 10, 2014 at The St. James Theatre (246 West 44th Street). The new musical will be directed and choreographed by five-time Tony Award winner Susan Stroman. Muny Executive Producer Mike Isaacson announced today the directors, choreographers and music directors for the Muny's 2014 Season, which opens on June 16 with Billy Elliot The Musical. "We're so happy these exciting artists are creating our 2014 season," said Isaacson. "This is a challenging season, one with incredible variety and power. We're fortunate that such extraordinary talents will be creating our 'Muny Magic.'"

A Christmas Carol at Theatre Memphis will open December 6, 2013, with a tribute gala event honoring Barry Fuller. Fuller, who was the first actor to portray Ebenezer Scrooge in the original Theatre Memphis, will be reprising the role this year for his 13th and last time at Theatre Memphis. A Christmas Carol returns to Theatre Memphis this year for the 36th consecutive year and runs through December 23 on the Lohrey Stage with weekend evening shows and matinees and some weeknight performances. Weekday school matinee performances (a truncated version without Fuller) are on the Lohrey Stage December 4 - December 20, 2012 (2 performances per day at 9:30am and 11am. In a recent feature with US Weekly, music legend Cher revealed that she has her sights set on a part with theatrical origins. 'I have watched the 1958 film 'Auntie Mame', with Rosalind Russell, at least 100 times. I would love to play that part in a remake.' The film was based on the Patrick Dennis novel and 1956 play of the same title, which was later turned into the 1966 musical- MAME. Here's to hoping that the diva will play the role on Broadway!
