The weekend also welcomes Cantata Profana, performing the music of Stravinsky on Saturday, June 27th (6:30pm) and a solo performance by Kim Kashkashian, viola as the second offering of the Distinguished Artist Recital Series tonight, June 26th (7:30pm). Jazz, country, folk groups plus opera and musical theatre join world-renowned string quartets for an extended summer of music. Concerts are scheduled thru September 27th.

Featuring four performers, marionettes of various sizes and assorted antique moose and deer antlers, the piece will be presented by Theater for the New City tonight, March 5 to 22. The piece is written and directed by Vit Horejs and co-created by Horejs and the cast.

The 26th annual Palm Springs International Film Festival (PSIFF) will launch on Friday, January 2 with the opening night screening of the Golden Globe nominated Selma directed by Ava Duvernay.

The Manhattan School of Music Opera Theater will be presenting Ernest Bloch's Macbeth on Wednesday, December 10 and Friday, December 12 at 7:30 pm.; and on Sunday, December 14 at 2:30 p.m. in the School's Borden Auditorium. Bloch's only opera, composed when the composer was in his early 20's, is set to a libretto by the composer's friend, the poet Edmond Fleg, after Shakespeare's play.
