Rita Moreno will star in a Latino family reboot of Norman Lear's classic 1970's sitcom comedy ONE DAY AT A TIME from Sony Pictures TV. The series was picked up by Netflix for a 13-episode straight-to-series order.

In his new book, 'Tight & Bright' (published by Xlibris), John Mack Flanagan shares his incredible story of self-discovery and success. This book charts his journey from a poor boy from New Mexico, starting his radio career at a tiny country music radio station, and ending up at KFRC San Francisco, Billboard Station of the Year 1975, 1976, 1977 and 1978. Flanagan was Billboard Jock of the Year finalist 1978, the highest award in radio. KFRC was a 2.9 radio station when the author arrived from Phoenix on September 1973. From a 9 A.M. to noon jock, Flanagan went into the 8's, 8.7, 8.5, 8.7, 8.9 consistently. When he was moved to afternoons on 1975, he went into the 9's, reaching 9.4 in afternoons, a shift that had never been successful at KFRC.

The San Francisco Early Music Society to Welcome Back Quicksilver in January

The San Francisco Early Music Society has announced the return engagement of Quicksilver, 'revered like rock stars within the early music scene' (The New York Times). Led by violinists Robert Mealy and Julie Andrijeski, the ensemble will perform a program titled The (very) First Viennese School, featuring music from the courts of Holy Roman Emperors Matthias to Leopold I: works by Valentini, Bertali, Buonamente, Pandolfi, Kerll, Legrenzi, f*x, Muffat and Schmelzer. Quicksilver performs at 8:00 pm Friday, January 29at First Presbyterian Church in Palo Alto; at 7:30 pm Saturday, January 30 at St. John's Presbyterian Church in Berkeley; and at 4:00 pm Sunday, January 31 at St. Mark's Lutheran Church in San Francisco. Individual tickets from $34 to $40 as well as three-concert subscription packages are available for purchase online at SFEMS.org.

BroadwayWorld has learned the sad news that playwright Jerome Kass has died. A Tony nominee for penning the book of the 1978 musical BALLROOM, Kass passed away in his Manhatta home on Thursday, Oct. 22 from prostate cancer. He was 78.

The ASCAP Foundation, in celebration of its 40thanniversary, today announced the launch of a nationwide series of concerts and educational programs made possible by revered ASCAP member Jerry Herman.  Herman is best-known as the composer /lyricist of the iconic musicals Hello, Dolly!, Mame and La Cage aux Folles. Entitled Jerry Herman: The Broadway Legacy Concert, each performance will feature a full symphony orchestra and star Broadway performers Debbie Gravite, Jason Graae, Klea Blackhurst and Scott Coulter. The series will debut on October 23, 2015 in Tulsa, Oklahoma with the Signature Symphony.
