Theatre enthusiasts packed the Mountain View Center for the Performing Arts last night to hear Founding Artistic Director Robert Kelley and Executive Director Phil Santora of TheatreWorks Silicon Valley reveal the lineup for the company's 50th season, which launches this summer. Kelley's 50th and final season as Artistic Director of TheatreWorks Silicon Valley includes triumphant returns of TheatreWorks favorites, bold premieres developed at the company's annual New Works Festival, and celebrated works from the nation's leading playwrights.

NYU Skirball will present the North American premiere of Milo Rau's & CAMPO's Five Easy Pieces, running March 7 - March 9, 2019 at NYU Skirball. Five Easy Pieces presents the story of the notorious child killer Marc Dutroux, whose 2004 trial caused a national scandal in Belgium.  Dutroux's story is told by seven children between the ages of 8 - 14 who take on the roles of several protagonists involved with the case. It will be presented in Flemish, with English supertitles.

The University of Washington School of Drama will present Githa Sowerby's 1912 drama, Rutherford and Son, January 23 - February 3, 2019. Despite being a smash hit when it premiered in London in 1912, Sowerby's tale of a tyrannical patriarch who loses his grip on his children has rarely been produced in the U.S.

Lookingglass Theatre Company presents the world premiere of Act(s) of God, by Ensemble Member Kareem Bandealy, directed by Ensemble Member Heidi Stillman. Act(s) of God runs February 13 April 7, 2019 at Lookingglass Theatre Company, located inside Chicago's historic Water Tower Water Works, 821 N. Michigan Ave. at Pearson. The press performances are February 22 and February 23 at 7:30 p.m.

La Cage aux Folles is adapted by Harvey Fierstein with music and original lyrics by Jerry Herman, translated and directed by Artistic Director Anthony Chan, with Cantonese lyrics translated by Chris Shum. The production is choreographed by Mohamed Drissi with music director Edgar Hung and singing supervisor Beilosi Fung. A 23-strong cast is led by guest artist Pichead Amornsomboon and Ko Hon Man, Jordan Cheung, Lau Shau Ching and Mercy Wong. New York-based British singer-songwriter Bobby Long's love of The Beatles is evident on his forthcoming new album SULTANS, due from Compass Records on March 1, 2019. The two-part title track that bookends this, his fourth album, playfully pays homage toSgt. Pepper and the music Long heard at home growing up in rural southwest England, while this taut new 10-song set of original material effectively traverses his signature love, loss and heartache milieu. SULTANS finds Long expanding on his spare, singer-songwriter arrangements for a more adventurous Beatle-esque sound with psychedelic flourishes, electric guitar and keys.

Award-winning music producer, critic and translator Lawrence Schulman, who lives on Mount Desert Island, Maine, will give a talk on Judy Garland, entitled 'Moments of Magic,' at the Ellsworth Public Library in Ellsworth, Maine on Thursday, March 28, 2019 at 6 P.M. Admission is free. The one-and-a-quarter hour talk will examine Judy Garland's life and career, and feature nine audio-video clips, to be followed by a question and answer. Schulman will endeavor to answer the question: 'If I had about one hour to convince you of Judy Garland's place in classic American popular music, what film and television performances would I choose?'

The Athena Film Festival (AFF) at Barnard College announced today its film slate, including opening night, closing night, and centerpiece films, as well as additional programming for the 2019 festival. The ninth annual festival, co-founded by the Athena Center for Leadership Studies at Barnard College and Women and Hollywood, will take place February 28 to March 3, 2019, at Barnard College in New York City. AFF showcases films, television and content that tell the extraordinary stories of fierce and fearless female leaders from all walks of life. Stories of ambition, courage, and resilience amplify the voices of strong, bold women, curating a public discourse on gender equality, and changing the cultural conventions surrounding leadership.

The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts announced today that Broadway, film, and television star Rosie O'Donnell will play Mrs. Paroo in the Broadway Center Stage production of Meredith Willson's The Music Man. O'Donnell joins Tony Award® nominee Norm Lewis (Porgy and Bess) as Harold Hill and Tony Award®–winning actress Jessie Mueller (Waitress, Carousel, Beautiful) as Marian Paroo in the starry semi-staged concert production directed by Marc Bruni (Beautiful, Broadway Center Stage: How to Succeed…) with choreography by Chris Bailey (Jerry Springer: The Opera, The New Yorkers at Encores!) and music direction by James Moore (Miss Saigon, the Kennedy Center's Follies and Ragtime).

Queer|Art, the New York City-based non-profit supporting the creative and professional development of LGBTQ artists, is pleased to announce the Winter 2019 season of Queer|Art|Film at IFC Center, presented by HBO. Queer|Art|Film is a monthly screening series in which some of New York's most unique artists present and discuss the films that have most inspired them. This season Queer Art's flipping the script by inviting four celebrated drag queens to present and discuss films that have inspired their craft in post-screening kikis. Curated by Adam Baran and Brooklyn drag diva Lady Quesadilla, this season entitled 'Winter's a Drag,' serves as the sequel to the 2014 Summer of Drag season. A full itinerary follows. Former costars Rob McClure and Maggie Lakis are now coparents! The couple announced the birth of their first child, Sadie James McClure, born on Sunday December 9th at 9:16 AM. McClure and Lakis met in 2005 while performing as Doody and Frenchy in a regional production of Grease. After marrying in 2009, they went on to perform together in the National Tour of Something Rotten! as Nick Bottom and Bea in 2017.
