The series returns with a contemporary twist: a major living composer curates each of the three concerts, presenting their own work in the context of a Bach masterpiece. Finnish composer Kaija Saariaho pairs her work Frises with its inspiration, Bach's Partita in D minor for solo violin, in a solo recital by Jennifer Koh.

Conductor Christoph Eschenbach returns to Walt Disney Concert Hall to lead the Los Angeles Philharmonic in its first three performances of 2014, Friday and Saturday, January 10 and 11, at 8 pm, and Sunday, January 12, at 2 pm. Joining the orchestra is Christian Tetzlaff, one of the violin's most thoughtful masters, to explore the paradoxes of Schoenberg's Violin Concerto, a work not heard here since 1975. Also on the program are Beethoven's Egmont Overture and Dvo?ak's Symphony No. 9, "New World," one of the composer's most popular symphonies.

Chautauqua Theater Company's Artistic Director Vivienne Benesch has announced the final production of CTC's 29th season: Shakespeare's glorious As You Like It. Director Jackson Gay (3C, Rattlestick; A Little Journey, 2012 Drama Desk Nomination, The Mint) makes her CTC debut with a 1930's swing era slant on Shakespeare's funniest and most frolicsome play. Including LE POÈME HARMONIQUE IN "VENEZIA," on opening night, eight intriguing composer portraits, featuring John Cage, Jonathan Harvey, Olga Neuwirth, Sofia Gubaidulina, Enno Poppe, Rebeecca Saunders, Oliver Knussen and Julio Estrada. Joining Owain Arthur as lovable chancer Francis Henshall are Jodie Prenger and Hannah Spearritt who play Dolly and Pauline respectively.
