Today ArtsBridge announced the nominees for the 9th Annual Georgia High School Musical Theatre Awards - Shuler Hensley Awards - in a live streaming broadcast on GPB.org. 35 public and private schools from throughout the state were nominated in 17 categories. Berkshire Theatre Group announces the final production of its upcoming 2017 Summer Season will be Mark Medoff's Tony, Outer Critics Circle and Drama Desk Award-winning play, Children of a Lesser God, which will begin performances on Thursday, June 22 at The Fitzpatrick Main Stage. Opening night is set for Saturday, June 24 at 8pm.

Second Thought Theatre opens its gripping 2017 season with the area premiere of Grounded by George Brandt. STT Artistic Director Alex Organ returns to directing for the company for the first time since 2014's production of Cock. This year he directs the one-woman show portraying a female fighter pilot navigating the clash between a career in the typically masculine world of modern warfare and the more traditional role of wife and mother. Grounded begins with previews on Wednesday, January 11 and runs through Saturday, February 4. Directed by Elizabeth Margoliusand starring Gene Weygandt (best known as The Wonderful Wizard of Oz in "Wicked" in Chicago and on Broadway), "Uncle Philip's Coat" follows Matty on his humorous and heartfelt journey of personal discovery, sparked by his inheritance of a tattered coat from his eccentric Russian-Jewish immigrant uncle Philip. 

Following an acclaimed run at Oregon Shakespeare Festival, Lisa Loomer's world-premiere drama Roe makes its D.C. debut at Arena Stage at the Mead Center for American Theater.
