From fierce matriarchs, unfaithful wives, and every Madonna in-between, Roar! The Year of the Woman spotlights the ladies who move mountains for their families, friends, and most importantly, themselves. Taking on tyrants, freeloaders, and faithless frauds these femme fatales fight for what they believe in, charting a course to a better world for their sisters and daughters.

Czech conductor Jakub Hr?ša will make his New York Philharmonic debut leading an all-Czech program featuring Dvo?ák's Violin Concerto, with Augustin Hadelich as soloist; three of Dvo?ák's Slavonic Dances (Op. 46, No. 1; Op. 72, No. 2; and Op. 72, No. 7); and Janá?ek's Taras Bulba, Rhapsody for Orchestra, Thursday, May 25, 2017, at 7:30 p.m.; Friday, May 26 at 2:00 p.m.; and Saturday, May 27 at 8:00 p.m.

The Old Globe's 2012-13 Season will feature the World Premieres of two new musicals: Allegiance - A New American Musical by Jay Kuo and Lorenzo Thione and A Gentleman's Guide to Love and Murder by Robert L. Freedman and Steven Lutvak. The season also includes George Bernard Shaw's Pygmalion in celebration of the classic play's 100th anniversary and the World Premiere of a new adaptation of Henrik Ibsen's A Doll's House by Anne-Charlotte Hanes Harvey and Kirsten Brandt. Two recent Broadway hits will make their San Diego debuts at the Globe: David Lindsay-Abaire's Good People and Jon Robin Baitz's Other Desert Cities. Rounding out the season are the West Coast Premiere of Bekah Brunstetter's Be a Good Little Widow and the Southern California Premiere of Tarell Alvin McCraney's The Brothers Size.

On Sunday, May 16 at 1 p.m., the Garibaldi-Meucci Museum will present a Terza Domenica Heritage Series event, 'Living Legacies: A Magical Pairing of Poetry and Music.' The event will pair the poetry of Letizia Modica Tuzzolino with the music of Alfred Morena, Sr. Family members will recount stories of the lives of these two talented individuals, and will also tell how they have taken works left behind by their forebears and given them new life in the 21st century.
