The Old Globe today announced the complete cast and creative team for the West Coast premiere of an exciting new American play, Rich Girl, by acclaimed playwright Victoria Stewart, continuing the Globe's 80th Anniversary festivities as part of the Balboa Park Centennial Celebration. Rich Girl will be directed by James Vasquez (Dr. Seuss' How the Grinch Stole Christmas!, Richard O'Brien's The Rocky Horror Show), and will play May 23 - June 21, 2015, in the Sheryl and Harvey White Theatre, part of the Globe's Conrad Prebys Theatre Center.

DTC artistic director Kevin Moriarty directs the Kennedy Center Jean Kennedy Smith Playwriting Award-winning play, which is choreographed by founder and artistic director of Dark Circles Contemporary Dance Joshua L. Peugh. Colossal begins with previews tonight, April 2 with a Pay-What-You-Can performance and runs through Sunday, May 3.

From today, October 21 to November 8, August Strindberg Repertory will transport Strindberg's 'Miss Julie' to an antebellum Louisiana plantation in a new interpretation conceived by Artistic Director Robert Greer and adapted by Edgar Chisholm from a translation by Greer. The production will include a ballet sequence, which Strindberg specified in the original manuscript and which has never been performed before. The piece will be directed by Robert Greer and choreographed by Ja' Malik.

Oregon Ballet Theatre announced during Pink Martini's concert at the Oregon Zoo that Nicolo Fonte's world premiere in the upcoming OBT 25 program will feature Portland's favorite 'little orchestra' sharing the stage with the dancers in the first ever full-scale collaboration between the two groups. The ballet, titled Everywhere, was inspired by Fonte's eagerness to create an unforgettable experience for the audience that will reveal new facets of both groups and the performers in them. In celebration of the Ballet's 25th Anniversary Season, this entirely new creation will feature China Forbes, who has been the lead singer for the band since its inception. Opening today, October 11, 2014 at the Keller Auditorium, OBT 25 will continue for five performances through October 18.

While some of the music from that century (the dreaded 'new music') has been cast off as 'academic' or 'unapproachable', these works have thrived because they appeal as much to a listener's ear as to a musician's sense of adventure.

Today on National Youth Literacy Day, Matt Kenseth debuted Matt Kenseth's Race Against Bullying, his first children's book aimed at educating and empowering children to make good choices if faced with bullying situations. Kenseth, a two-time Daytona 500 Champion and the NASCAR Sprint Cup series driver of the No. 20 Dollar General Toyota Camry, released the book with his wife Katie at Joe Gibbs Racing headquarters.
