Hale Centre Theatre's season-opening production of THE SCARLET PIMPERNEL, directed by the inimitable Cambrian James ~ is two and a half hours of spirited story-telling, featuring a bravura performance by Austin Delp as the heroic Sir Percy Blakeney. Show runs through October 6th.

Richard Kessler, Dean of Mannes School of Music and Executive Dean of the College of Performing Arts at The New School, announced today the appointment of Emma Griffin as the Managing Artistic Director of the Mannes Opera. Griffin, whose hiring is the result of an international search, succeeds Joseph Colaneri, who stepped down as Artistic Director of The Mannes Opera after a highly successful 20 year tenure.

Markus Hinterhauser, Artistic Director of the Salzburg Festival, will perform a two-part concert at the Ojai Music Festival in Ojai, California on June 8, 2018. The program features rarely heard works by Galina Ustvolskaya, including her Six Sonatas for Piano Solo. The first part of the concert will begin at 1:00 p.m. Hinterhauser will be joined by Patricia Kopatchinskaja, the 2018 Music Director of the Ojai Festival, for the second part of the concert at 2:30 p.m. Both parts will be performed at the Libbey Bowl.

Ahead of their May/June tour dates in New York and Europe, Deerhunter have announced details of an exclusive tour-only release. The Double Dream Of Spring was recorded at Bradford Cox's home in Atlanta, Georgia with the band, and continues a tradition of unique cassette releases which includes On Platts Eyott Island (2008) and Rainwater Cassette Exchange (2009). Limited to 300 copies, the tape will only be available to purchase exclusively on forthcoming Deerhunter summer tour dates, beginning with their intimate sold-out show in Brooklyn's Elsewhere on May 15th. Support comes from Vorhees.

Continuing the momentum created with the current season launch of its Music Knows No Borders series, Executive Director Thor Steingraber unveils the Younes and Soraya Nazarian Center for the Performing Arts' 2018-19 Season, which features four world premieres, two American premieres, several of the world's greatest orchestras, innovative jazz programs, two tributes to Hollywood legends, Broadway classics plus artists from 18 different nations who will appear on stage at The Soraya next season.  New Subscription Series tickets will go on sale May 1, 2018.

The New Jersey Symphony Orchestra takes concertgoers into the animal kingdom in "Panda-Monium: Music from the Animal Kingdom" family concerts on Saturday, May 12, at the New Jersey Performing Arts Center in Newark. On this wild concert adventure, concertgoers will hear animals fly, buzz, waltz and do the polka, all through music.

Manfred Honeck will return to the New York Philharmonic to conduct Sibelius's Violin Concerto, with Nikolaj Znaider as soloist; Mr. Honeck's own arrangement of Dvorák's Rusalka Fantasy, orchestrated by Tomáš Ille; and selections from Tchaikovsky's Sleeping Beauty, Thursday, May 3, 2018, at 7:30 p.m.; Friday, May 4 at 11:00 a.m.; Saturday, May 5 at 8:00 p.m.; and Tuesday, May 8 at 7:30 p.m. The following week, Nikolaj Znaider will make his New York Philharmonic conducting debut leading Elgar's Cello Concerto, with Jian Wang in his subscription debut, and Tchaikovsky's Symphony No. 1, Winter Dreams, Thursday, May 10, 2018, at 7:30 p.m.; Friday, May 11 at 8:00 p.m.; and Saturday, May 12 at 8:00 p.m.

February 19, 2018 - Based on Roundabout Theatre Company's Tony Award-winning production, Sam Mendes (Skyfall, American Beauty) and Rob Marshall's (Into the Woods and Chicago, the films) CABARET will play The Playhouse on Rodney Square in Wilmington for eight performances, March 13-19. This is the first time the Broadway revival has toured the historic Wilmington theater.

The Brown/Trinity Rep MFA Program proudly presents its March thesis show, directed by Mauricio Salgado (Brown/Trinity Rep MFA '18). The play, An Acorn, by Caridad Svich, deals with humanity's response to a crisis and how memory, grief, and finding each other can save us all.
