Back by popular demand, The 5th Avenue Theatre is pleased to welcome the exuberant holiday amusement Sing-along Sound of Music on Saturday, January 1, and Sunday, January 2. Taking its cue from the classic line from the much-loved film, 'Life is not just meant to be watched - you're supposed to sing along,' this evening of musical interactivity gives audiences a chance to boo the Baroness and the Nazis, cheer the plucky Von Trapps, and sing along to every well-known number in the classic Rodgers and Hammerstein score.

Sweden's great beauty Greta Gustafsson, later renamed Greta Garbo has been the subject of several plays, but, to my knowledge, When Garbo Talks is the first musical to recount her fascinating career. ICT's world premiere production in Long Beach is well directed, has an excellent cast, but at best comes off disconnected and unduly and unclearly satirical. If parody is the intent, it is far from apparent at the beginning.

The 5th Avenue Theatre celebrated its 30th Anniversary with A Night At The 5th, the Theatre's annual Fundraising Gala, on Saturday June 19. During a glamorous evening of food, fun and entertainment, the generous patrons of The 5th gave more than twice as much money as last year's event, and celebrated the end of a acclaimed season whose highlights included four Tonys for the co-production with La Jolla Playhouse of last season's Memphis, the world-premiere of Catch Me if You Can and critically-acclaimed productions of Bernstein's On The Town and Candide.

Against all odds, Los Angeles' El Portal Theatre celebrates 10 years of live theatre, following the rebuild of the historic movie venue, severely damaged by the Northridge Earthquake of 1994. To mark the anniversary, producers Jay Irwin and Pegge Forrest have programmed a line up of audience favorites and special events specifically catering to the historic theatre's loyal audience, including the return of the one and only Debbie Reynolds, Renee Taylor & Joe Bologna, Rip Taylor, Fritz Coleman, Adam Corolla, and brand new large-scale holiday musical extravaganza produced by the Lythgoe Family (So You Think You Can Dance, Dancing with the Stars), plus a breath taking Parisian follies/cirque special for the summer.
