Jennifer Cody (Shrek, The Pajama Game) will host The New York Musical Theater Festival (NYMF) kickoff to the 7th season: BEST OF THE FEST a gala celebration to toast the achievements of the Festival's alumni.

Producer Daryl Roth has announced that casting has been completed for the return engagement of last season's Drama Desk nominated musical comedy for all ages, DEAR EDWINA. The Fred Ebb Foundation (Mitchell Bernard, Trustee) in association with the Roundabout Theatre Company (Todd Haimes, Artistic Director) will present the fifth annual Fred Ebb Award for aspiring musical theatre songwriters to Marcy Heisler and Zina Goldrich. The award, named in honor of the late award-winning lyricist Fred Ebb, will be presented by Eric Schaeffer of the Signature Theatre on Monday, November 30th from 6-8pm at a by-invitation-only ceremony in the Penthouse Lobby of The American Airlines Theater.

South Coast Repertory kicks off the 2009-10 Season with Putting It Together, a compilation of Stephen Sondheim songs, that the composer put together like pieces of a jigsaw puzzle, creating a narrative set at a cocktail party in an elegant Manhattan condo. The non-traditional musical, led by Broadway and television star Harry Groener, has a cast of five (a glamorous but slightly jaded couple, a starry-eyed younger couple and a savvy observer) who sing more than 30 songs that reflect their lives, lifestyles and moods of the moment. Some of the songs will be familiar, some less so, a few were even cut from their original musical scores, but they are all sophisticated, smart and drop-dead droll. All, in other words, Sondheim.

The New York Musical Theatre Festival (NYMF) and Kellner-Avery Productions announce the addition of 2 performances to the World Premiere production of HURRICANE. This epic new musical takes an all-but-forgotten moment in history and brings it to life with the largest cast in NYMF history, 30 in all. Directed by Michael Bush, HURICANE features a book by Michael Holland and Eric Bernat, and music and lyrics by Michael Holland. After selling out its initial run, two performances have been added: Fri. Oct. 9 at 5pm and Tues. Oct. 13 at 5pm. A complete schedule is below.
