Naturally, New York City and theatre fans across the world are excitedly buzzing about this year's ceremonies, which will be broadcast live from Radio City Music Hall on Sunday, June 11, 2017 at 8/7c on CBS. On June 17, 18, 23, 24, & 25, Long Beach Opera (LBO) will present five outdoor performances of the highly anticipated Southern California premiere of Frida. The opera celebrates the renowned Mexican artist Frida Kahlo, her vivacious spirit, sexuality, fragility, and her tumultuous life with muralist Diego Rivera. Robert Xavier Rodriguez' brilliant score captures Frida with music as rich and haunting as her art.

Ellen McDougall announces her inaugural season as Artistic Director of the Gate Theatre, running from June 2017 to June 2018, comprising five full productions, and a one-day takeover of local Notting Hill festival InTRANSIT.

The Old Globe today announced the complete cast and creative team of the first offering in the 2017 Summer Shakespeare Festival: William Shakespeare's epic King Richard II, helmed by award-winning director Erica Schmidt (Off Broadway's A Month in the Country, All the Fine Boys, Humor Abuse) in her Globe debut. The play will run June 11 - July 15, 2017, in the outdoor Lowell Davies Festival Theatre. Previews run June 11 - 17. The New Jersey Performing Arts Center announces its 20th anniversary 2017-18 season with the initial launch of more than 150 performances and special events, all wrapped into a festive new reimagining of the NJPAC brand identity.

The Nora Theatre Company will present the world premiere of Alan Brody's The Midvale High School Fiftieth Reunion from June 1 - July 2, 2017. The Midvale High School Fiftieth Reunion is directed by Lee Mikeska Gardner. The press performance is Monday, June 5 at 7:30PM.

Here they go again! Additional casting has been announced for the Hollywood Bowl's upcoming production of Mamma Mia!, Friday, July 28, at 8 PM, Saturday, July 29, at 8 PM and Sunday, July 30, at 7:30 PM. The new cast members are Corbin Bleu as Sky, Dove Cameron as Sophie, Lea DeLaria as Rosie, and Jennifer Nettles as Donna. The production also stars previously announced Jamie Camil as Sam.

American Composers Orchestra (ACO) continues its 40th anniversary season and its commitment to serving as a catalyst for the creation and development of new orchestral music with the 26th Annual Underwood New Music Readings on Thursday, June 22 and Friday, June 23, 2017 at the DiMenna Center for Classical Music (450 W. 37th St., NYC).

Mosaic Theater Company of DC presents the culmination of its expansive and hugely successful second season with the 2017 Voices From a Changing Middle East Festival. This year's festival is of particular resonance in this 50th year since the Six Day War and the start of The Occupation, and focuses on two taut dramas about the lives, circumstances, and humanity of Palestinians in Israel and Gaza.

Camil will play the role of Sam Carmichael.

WARNER BROS. presents BUGS BUNNY AT THE SYMPHONY II -a spectacular fusion of classical music and classic animation that celebrates the world's most famous and beloved cartoons and their equally famous music-with the New Jersey Symphony Orchestra, June 3-4 in Newark and New Brunswick. Conducted by Emmy Award-winner George Daugherty, and created and produced by Daugherty and Emmy Award-winning producer David Ka Lik Wong, the production is a celebration of the world's favorite Warner Bros. Looney Tunes characters on-screen with live full symphony orchestra accompaniment.

Conor Oberst joined his first band at the age of 13 and has been releasing music since 1993. Over the next two plus decades, he's released cassette-only recordings, split 7-inches, and a dozen albums of uncommon insight, detail, and political awareness with his band Bright Eyes, under his own name, as a member of Desaparecidos, as leader of the The Mystic Valley Band, and with the Monsters of Folk supergroup.

Some of Philadelphia's biggest musical theater stars are teaming up for a one-night only salute to the Great White Way. The Summer Club Salutes Broadway will feature a 17-piece live big band performing hits from Jersey Boys, The Music Man, Guys and Dolls, Cabaret, and more at the Venice Island Performing Arts Center (7 Lock Street, Philadelphia) at 8PM on May 1.

After a sold-out run for Lost Girls, Theatre Exile closes their 20th anniversary season with Buzzer by Tracey Scott Wilson. Gentrification comes to a head as the thought-provoking social drama fans the flames of love, race, class and privilege.

Broadway came to Natick last night as the Jewish Arts Collaborative presented SETH RUDETSKY & JUDY KUHN: A BROADWAY CABARET AND CONVERSATION at The Center for Arts in Natick (TCAN). As promised by JCA Artistic Director Joey Baron in his introduction, the evening was fun (with a capital "F") as these two veterans of the Great White Way regaled the sold-out house with backstage stories, Rudetsky's masterful musicianship, and Kuhn's gorgeous vocalizing from her considerable musical theatre canon.

Summer 1993 is a beautiful, moving and positive film.
