Raymond Marc Dumont's eyes sparkle and he glows with enthusiasm as he talks about his current involvement with the company as choreographer for their production of Gypsy which runs from July 17- August 3 at the Pickard Theatre in Brunswick, ME. Not only is this production a homecoming for the Maine-born and raised actor, director, and choreographer, but it his first gig as a member of SDC, the directors and choreographers union. New York's Broadway musical theatre training institute - The Open Jar Institute - is celebrating it's 10th Anniversary of providing high school and college students the opportunity to work one-on-one with Broadway's best professionals during a special master class with Susan Stroman on August 2nd at The Pearl Theatre (555. The Film Society of Lincoln Center announced today the lineup for this year's edition of Latinbeat, today, July 12-21. Opening Night launches with LA PAZ by prolific Argentinian filmmaker, Santiago Loza, who has showcased his work at the festival since 2000, and is also an influential playwright in the indie theater scene of Buenos Aires. This year's lineup also includes the previously announced retrospective of filmmaker, Matias Piñeiro, who will screen his films THE STOLEN MAN and THEY ALL LIE during the festival while simultaneously theatrically opening VIOLA and ROSALINDA at the Film Society of Lincoln Center tonight, July 12th.

Bayou City Theatrics is continuing their inaugural season with Houston's first locally produced professional staging of Elton John and Tim Rice's AIDA. The musical, with a book by Linda Woolverton, Robert Falls, and David Henry Hwang, was originally produced on Broadway by Disney Theatrical Productions, and ran on there from March 23, 2000 to September 5, 2004 for a total of 1,852 performances. The successes of the Broadway production lead to two national tours. The 2002-2003 equity tour served as a duplicate of the Broadway staging; however, David Henry Hwang revised the book for the 2006-2007 non-equity second national tour, creating a show that was a bit darker by removing some of the campy comedy from the character of Amneris. Having seen both tours, it seems that the version licensed by Music Theatre International is the same book used by the Broadway version.

Handel and Haydn Society Presents Handel Jephtha, conducted by Artistic Director Harry Christophers, in celebration of the 2015 Bicentennial. The piece premiered in the US by H&H in 1855. Beginning in April, 2013, 1812 Productions will present the world premiere comedy It's My Party: The Women and Comedy Project, created and directed by 1812 Productions' Artistic Director, Jennifer Childs, and featuring a diverse ensemble of Philadelphia actresses. A production which will use physical comedy, storytelling, and music in a one-of-a-kind theatrical event, the creative process for It's My Party: The Women and Comedy Project began in 2010 with two questions: how do women use comedy and how does that usage change as they age. With these pointed inquiries as her guides, Ms. Childs embarked on three inclusive and ongoing initiatives which, together, would form the core of the Project.
