Hale Centre Theatre (HCT), Utah's professional family theatre, officially unveiled its 2016 play book, which includes the first US post-Broadway regional theatre production of The Pirate Queen, a regional premiere of Sister Act, a favorite Disney princess, and the return of an award-winning audience favorite, that will 'float your boat.'

Later this week, the Tony Award-winning musical comedy Gigi will open at the Neil Simon Theatre (250 West 52nd Street), marking the Broadway debut of Vanessa Hudgens, who plays the title role. Though this is the first time that the actress has tread the boards of the Great White Way, she has been captivating audiences with her musical talents for years, having made her big break as 'Gabriella Montez in the High School Musical franchise. The NATIONAL NEW PLAY NETWORK (NNPN), the country's alliance of non-profit theaters that champions the development, production, and continued life of new plays, announces its 48th and 49th Rolling World Premieres: Chad Beckim's Lights Rise on Grace and Lauren Yee's in a word, as well as openings for its 43rd, 44th, and 47th plays, Uncanny Valley by Thomas Gibbons, Colossal by Andrew Hinderaker, and River City by Diana Grisanti.

NY Philharmonic & Harmony Program Launching 'All Stars' Initiative

The New York Philharmonic and Harmony Program announce the launch of the inaugural Harmony All Stars Ensemble - nine New York City middle- and high-school students from low-income neighborhoods selected by audition for an eleven-day mentorship with New York Philharmonic musicians. The students will also attend a Philharmonic rehearsal and Young People's Concert, experience an intensive day of coaching and rehearsal, and perform with their Philharmonic mentors during a free public concert in the David Rubenstein Atrium at Lincoln Center on May 20, 2015.

This highly influential collaboration has dazzled audiences worldwide with their blend of two classical music traditions that have been intertwined historically, geographically, and culturally for centuries: the Persian dastgah and North Indian raga.

From February 10-12, 2015, EarShot (the National Orchestral Composition Discovery Network) and the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra (BPO), JoAnn Falletta, Music Director, will present the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra New Music Readings at Kleinhans Music Hall (3 Symphony Circle, Buffalo). On Wednesday, February 11 at 7pm at Kleinhans Hall, the public will have the opportunity for a behind-the-scenes look at the process of bringing brand new orchestral works to life, as music by the four selected composers is read by the BPO under the baton of associate conductor, Stefan Sanders. The composers – Cody Forrest, Jay Hurst, Yuan-Chen Li, and Scott Ordway – were selected through a national call for scores, and during the Readings will receive feedback from BPO Musicians, Sanders, and mentor composers Robert Beaser of The Juilliard School and artistic director laureate of American Composers Orchestra, Rob Deemer from SUNY Fredonia, and Pulitzer Prize winner Melinda Wagner. Afterwards, the audience is invited to be a part of a discussion Q&A with the young composers, the conductor, and mentor composers.

The acclaimed octet will play selections from the new recording, called “one of the best albums of 2014” by New York Music Daily, at two upcoming concerts.
