Theatre Development Fund (TDF) and The Dream Center Harlem, partners in the first year of TDF's CREATE NEW YORK (CNY) Program, have announced their first community event focusing on empowerment and whole living called H.E.R.S. - HEALING EVOLVING RESOLVING SELF - A NIGHT OF EMPOWERMENT, will take place at the Dream Center Harlem(205 West 119th Street, Manhattan) on Friday, November 4 from 6pm to midnight.  The event is open to the public and admission is free.

On Friday, November 4, classic song stylist and songwriter Kiki Ebsen presents her Joni Mitchell Project (TM) as they return to Vitello's Upstairs in Studio City.

Actor Ian Hallard has done a range of work, from musicals and Shakespeare to phone-hacking play Great Britain at the National Theatre and TV staples like Doctor Who and Poirot. He also co-wrote a Poirot episode with his husband Mark Gatiss, and the pair are now starring together in a revival of Matt Crowley's seminal play The Boys in the Band, which changed the landscape of gay theatre on its Off Broadway premiere in 1968. It begins previews tomorrow at Park Theatre, where it plays until 30 October, and will then tour to Manchester, Brighton and Leeds

As BroadwayWorld reported this morning, Bette Midler will indeed return to Broadway in one of the most cherished shows in musical theater history when she takes on the role of Dolly Gallagher Levi in Michael Stewart's (book) and Jerry Herman's (music and lyrics) masterpiece, Hello, Dolly!. Directed by four-time Tony Award® winner Jerry Zaks, Hello, Dolly! will begin performances on Broadway on March 13, 2017, with an official opening night of April 20, 2017. Rehearsals begin one year from today. This new production of Hello, Dolly!, the first new production of this classic musical to appear on Broadway since it opened more than fifty years ago, will have at its helm Jerry Zaks as its director, and will feature choreography by Tony Award-winner Warren Carlyle. The new Dolly! will pay tribute to the original work of legendary director/choreographer Gower Champion, which has been hailed both then and now as one of the greatest stagings in musical theater history. The complete cast is Eleanor Bron, Russell Floyd, Sarah Ridgeway and Sargon Yelda. The production, directed by HighTide Festival Theatre's Artistic Director Steven Atkinson, previews from 08 December (press night 11 December) and runs through 16 January 2016 in a co-production between the Bush Theatre and HighTide Festival Theatre.

Harold Pinter was born in Hackney, in London's East End, in October of 1930. An only child, he was born to Jewish parents of very moderate means; his father, a tailor, and his mother, a homemaker, were first-generation descendants of Eastern European immigrants. Like many of his contemporaries, Pinter's childhood was shaped by the onslaught of World War II; at the age of nine, he was evacuated from London through Operation Pied Piper and resettled in a town in Cornwall. The sense of isolation he felt in Cornwall would come to influence his work, as would the changed London to which he returned during the Blitz, where he was witness to, as his 2008 Guardianobituary put it, 'the dramatic nature of wartime life - the palpable fear, the sexual desperation, the genuine sense that everything could end tomorrow.'

The Old Globe opens its 2015-2016 Season with IN YOUR ARMS, a World Premiere dance-theatre musical featuring direction and choreography by Tony Award winner Christopher Gattelli (Newsies, Godspell, Lincoln Center Theater's The King and I and South Pacific) and original music by Tony Award winner Stephen Flaherty (Ragtime, Once on This Island; two-time Oscar nominee for Anastasia). The production begins tonight, September 16, with an opening slated for September 24, and runs through October 25, 2015.

The Telegraph writes that Natasha Parry, wife of theatre director Peter Brook and a stage and screen actress in her own right, passed away after having a stroke while vacationing in France. She was 84.
