Legendary newsman Morley Safer has passed away at the age of 84, just one week after announcing his retirement from CBS's long-running news show 60 MINUTES. 

Gloucester Stage Company kicks off the 37th season of producing professional theater on Cape Ann with Peter Shaffer's Lettice and Lovage opening on May 19 and running through June 11 at 267 East Main Street, Gloucester, MA.

Oh, the places you'll go! The Oregon Shakespeare Festival transports audiences to a ghostly Danish castle, dynastic China, and Oz's Emerald City when its outdoor theatre opens the weekend of June 17-19. The Allen Elizabethan Theatre will feature Hamlet, directed by Lisa Peterson; the classic 1970s musical The Wiz, directed by Robert O'Hara; and The Winter's Tale, directed by Desdemona Chiang. The shows will close the weekend of October 14-16.

It is announced today that Damien Molony, best known for his roles in BBC's Being Human and Ripper Street, will play the role of 'Foster' in Harold Pinter's No Man's Land, completing casting for the play. Molony joins the previously announced Ian McKellen as 'Spooner', Patrick Stewart as 'Hirst' and Owen Teale as 'Briggs' in Sean Mathias' production, which will tour venues across the UK from 3 August prior to a limited engagement at London's Wyndham's Theatre from 8 September.

Renowned British actor/writer/director Steven Berkoff will direct a rare production of Eugene O'Neill's 1922 expressionist play The Hairy Ape, opening May 14 at West L.A.'s Odyssey Theatre.

The production directed by Ivica Buljan, director of the Croatian National Theatre, begins performances beginning tonight, December 3 at La MaMa's Ellen Stewart Theatre (66 E. 4 St.) with the press opening set for December 6, it has been announced by Mia Yoo, La MaMa's Artistic Director.

Four legendary women -- Production Designer Carmen Dillon, Production and Costume Designer Patricia Norris, Art Director and Set Designer Dorothea Holt Redmond and Illustrator Dianne Wager -- will be inducted into the Art Directors Guild (ADG) Hall of Fame at the Guild's 20th Annual Excellence in Production Design Awards, it was announced today by ADG Council Chairwoman Marcia Hinds and Awards Executive Producer James Pearse Connelly. BroadwayWorld has learned that English actor/director Robin Phillips has died. Best known as a driving force behind the revitalization of Ontario's Stratford Festival in the 1970s, Phillips passed away yesterday, July 25, following a prolonged illness. He was 73.

Gobodo-Madikizela is a member of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission determined to understand his actions. She questions de Kock, who is sentenced to two life terms plus 212 years for crimes against humanity, murder, conspiracy to murder, attempted murder, assault, kidnapping, illegal possession of firearms, and fraud.
