Richard Gere, NORMAN Screening to Open 34th Annual Miami Film Festival; Lineup Announced!

Acclaimed box office star, producer and humanitarian Richard Gere will open the 34th edition of Miami Dade College's Miami Film Festival on March 3, 2017, followed by an Opening Night Gala screening of his new film, Norman: The Moderate Rise and Tragic Fall of a New York Fixer, directed by 2-time Oscar-nominated Israeli filmmaker Joseph Cedar, with the KORBEL Opening Night Party to follow at Miami's Historic Alfred I. Dupont Building.

Porchlight Music Theatre and Artistic Director Michael Weber are proud to announce the continuation of the fourth season of Chicago's hit "lost" musicals in staged concert series, Porchlight Revisits Little Me, music by Cy Coleman, lyrics by Carolyn Leigh and book by Neil Simon based on the novel by Patrick Dennis, with direction by Porchlight Artistic Director Michael Weber, musical direction by Linda Madonia, choreography by Craig Miller with special guest choreography by veteran Bob Fosse dancer Jane Lanier and starring Jeff Award-winner Matt Crowle. Porchlight Revisits Little Me is presented for three-nights-only Tuesday, Feb. 28 through Thursday, March 2 at 7:15 p.m. and is performed on the set of Porchlight's The Scottsboro Boys (previews begin Friday, Feb. 3) at Stage 773, 1225 W. Belmont Ave. Tickets for Little Me are $35. All tickets include access to the popular pre-performance event, Behind the Show Backstory, a multimedia presentation, created and hosted by Weber that discusses that evening's production including the show's creative history, backstage gossip and the state of the art on Broadway that season. HIPPO BALLERINA To Be Installed in NYC at Dante Park, Today

Standing over 15 feet tall, weighing over 2 and a half tons, cast in bronze, and clad in a copper tutu, Hippo Ballerina will make her Broadway debut  at Dante Park in front of Lincoln Center on 64th Street in NYC beginning February 7. Inspired by Degas' Little Dancer Aged Fourteen and the dancing hippos of Walt Disney's Fantasia, Hippo Ballerina vividly illustrates how subjects and themes found in ancient myths, art history, modern animation, and contemporary popular culture can be transformed in playful ways that engage the viewer. She will be joined nearby by her bronze besties, which include a dancing bear, a scootering cheetah, and a pogoing kangaroo on view at Cavalier Gallery's companion exhibition, Bronze Creatures Great and Small, opening February 7.
