Michael Attenborough's production of William Shakespeare's King Lear is playing at the Almeida Theatre until 3 November 2012, with press night 11 September. Designs are by Tom Scutt with lighting by Jon Clark and sound and music by Dan Jones. The Almeida's production of King Lear is part of the World Shakespeare Festival. The festival, produced by the Royal Shakespeare Company for London 2012, will showcase the best of the UK and international creative talents, exploring the contemporary relevance of Shakespeare. Rehearsals have begun for David Mamet's fiendishly funny comedy "November," which will be presented at the Center Theatre Group/Mark Taper Forum, September 26 through November 4, 2012. The opening is set for October 7. In addition to previously announced cast members Ed Begley, Jr., Felicity Huffman and Rod McLachlan, "November" will feature Gregory Cruz and Todd Weeks.

November features Alley Theatre Resident Actors Jeffrey Bean as President Charles Smith, James Belcher as The Representative of the National Association of Turkey and Turkey Products, Elizabeth Bunch as Clarice Bernstein, David Rainey as Dwight Grackle, and Todd Waite as Archer Brown. November, by David Mamet and directed by Sanford Robbins, begins performances tonight, August 24, opens officially Wednesday, August 29, and runs through Sunday, September 23 on the Neuhaus Stage.

According to the New York Times, John C. McGinley has joined previously announced Al Pacino, David Harbour, Richard Schiff, Bobby Cannavale and Jeremy Shamos in the Broadway revival of David Mamet'S acclaimed Pulitzer Prize-winning drama GLENGARRY GLEN ROSS. The 'Scrubs' actor will play 'Dave Moss.'

Marking the first time that actor/director Lauren Kennedy has directed her Tony-nominated husband Alan Campbell in a play, Hot Summer Nights at the Kennedy in downtown Raleigh is currently featuring Race, a play by contemporary American playwright David Mamet. Race is the third show of the season, and is one which certainly does not shy away from controversial topics.

The New York Times is reporting that Alec Baldwin will return to Broadway in the Spring of 2013 in a new production of OPRHANS, to be directed by Tony-winner Daniel Sullivan. There is no word yet on a theatre or additional cast members for the production.

As BroadwayWorld reported earlier this week, David Mamet's 1984 play Glengarry Glen Ross is heading back to Broadway, this time starring Al Pacino as leading man, 'Shelly "The Machine" Levene.' Pacino previously played 'Richard Roma' the the 1992 film adaptation of the Pulitzer Prize-winning play. Daniel Sullivan is attached to direct the project.
The New York Times has confirmed that the show will begin previews on October 16 at the Gerald Schoenfeld Theater. Opening night is set for November 11.

Producers Jeffrey Richards and Jerry Frankel announced that the American premiere of THE ANARCHIST, the new play about politics, money, religion and sex, written and directed by DAVID MAMET. The production will star two-time Tony Award winner PATTI LUPONE, who has previously appeared in Mamet's The Woods, All Men are Whores, The Blue Hour, The Water Engine, Edmond and The Old Neighborhood and three-time Emmy Award winner LAURIE METCALF, who was nominated for a 2008 Tony Award for her performance in Mamet's November. THE ANARCHIST, which marks the sixth collaboration between Richards, Frankel and Mamet, will open on Broadway in Fall 2012.
