The Lark, a theater company devoted to the support of visionary playwrights and the development of new plays, is thrilled to announce five New York City-based playwrights have been named as the 2018-19 Rita Goldberg Playwrights' Workshop Fellows. The group spans a wide range of backgrounds and professional experiences and will meet regularly throughout the year to develop new plays.

Accordion Festival Comes to Bryant Park This Weekend

The Accordion Festival, a five-hour finale to the Accordions Around the World series at Bryant Park, features the the wide range of this often-overlooked and little-known instrument. This special event features Shashmaqam (Bukharian Jewish Music and Dance from Central Asia), Rhode Island-based João Cirilo Pilom Batuko Band (Funana and Batuko from Cape Verde), New York's own Shilpa Ray (Indie rock on the harmonium), Italian superstars Canzoniere Grecanico Salentino (Pizzica Tarantata from Puglia), and all-women, sister act Rimel (Mexican Norteño), whose performance will be the perfect way to start your Mexican Independence Day weekend celebrations! The festival will be hosted by NPR's Anastasia Tsioulcas and curated by Ariana Hellerman.

Hillbarn Theatre, the Peninsula's premier theatre company, announced that it has added crowd-favorite musicals WEST SIDE STORY andMAMMA MIA! to its 2018-19 season. WEST SIDE STORY will open the season, runningAugust 30 - September 16, 2018, and MAMMA MIA! will replace the previously announced closing show, THE WEDDING SINGER, running May 9 - 26, 2019.
