"A pair of newlyweds arrive at their country estate to be welcomed by Kuzovkin, the penniless gentleman-in-residence. Their wealthy and mischievous neighbour Tropatchov calls by for a seemingly innocent celebratory lunch. Fuelled by champagne the proceedings degenerate, leading to a shocking revelation with far-reaching consequences.

13th Floor and Twisted Oak are proud to announce a double bill of physical theater at ODC Theater next year. Each company will present an original 40-minute play drawing on a shared vocabulary of storytelling and character-based movement. 13th Floor presents Lightning Strikes Anonymous, about five quirky individuals with a unique electrical addiction. Twisted Oak presents the world premiere of Fortune's Fool: A Monster's Odyssey, a mythological allegory about the confrontation between Harmony and Strife. Fortune's Fool Theatre will produce the world premiere of a new musical, The Lady with a Lap Dog, book and lyrics by Daniel Pinkerton and music by Robert Elhai, adapted from the story by Anton Chekhov. It will be performed at the Open Eye Figure Theatre in Minneapolis for 8 performances only from September 15-24. The production will star the outstanding singing actors Andrea Leap as Anna, Joel Liestman as Dmitri, and Laurel Armstrong as the four other characters. It will be directed by Nicole Wilder and music directed by Jill Dawe.

Award-winning playwright/director Chip Deffaa's 'Irving Berlin Songbook' album--part of an ongoing 'Irving Berlin Project' which Deffaa has been developing at the 13th Street Theater in New York City--will be released August 16th.  The album--with two-dozen members of New York's theatrical community singing 29 rare Berlin songs--includes many songs that have never before  been recorded.  Deffaa--one of the world's foremost authorities on Berlin's music and the author of five different shows about him--went through every song in the Berlin archive, some 1500 in all, in preparation for the project.
