Verdi's Luisa Miller returns to the Met for the first time since 2006, starring Sonya Yoncheva as the title character and Piotr Beczala as her lover, Rodolfo.Placido Domingo adds a new role to his Met repertory as Miller, Luisa's father, a role he shares with Luca Salsi. Olesya Petrova sings the widowed duchess Federica, Alexander Vinogradov is the lord Walter, and Dmitry Belosselskiy sings the role of Wurm. Bertrand de Billy conducts all performances of the revival which runs for 7 performances from March 29 through April 21, 2018.

Lincoln Center's Mostly Mozart Festival , one of New York's premier summer performance series, kicks off its 51st season on July 25. Among the highlights in the first two weeks are a special opening concert led by Louis Langrée, Renée and Robert Belfer Music Director, featuring traditional and indigenous songs from Mozart's time; a choral presentation by Les Arts Florissants; and guest conductors Edward Gardner and Gianandrea Noseda; festival debuts by more than 10 artists, including Kit Armstrong, Janai Brugger, Jennifer Johnson Cano, S? Percussion, Beatrice Rana, Ksenija Sidorova, and the Young People's Chorus of New York City; and the New York premiere of David Lang's concerto for percussion, man made. On June 9, 2017, Long Beach Opera (LBO) and the Museum of Latin American Art (MOLAA) will present "Frida Kahlo: Pain and Passion," an evening celebrating the vibrant, colorful life of the renowned Mexican artist. An extra performance of Brodsky/Baryshnikov has been added on 7th May due to high levels of interest. Found somewhere between a play, a poetry recital and a piece of performance art, this UK premiere is being staged at the West End's Apollo Theatre for a limited run.

Fresh off her debut at London's Royal Opera House and just before her Met debut, Daniela Mack joins Florida Grand Opera's (FGO) cast of George's Bizet's Carmen. Ms. Mack will perform the title role from December 1 through December 3, 2016 at the Broward Center for the Performing Arts in Fort Lauderdale, FL.

Brooklyn Center for the Performing Arts at Brooklyn College continues its 2016-17 season with its annual holiday performance of Dance Theatre in Westchester's The Colonial Nutcracker on Sunday, December 11, 2016 at 2pm. A new production of Rossini's Guillaume Tell, the composer's final opera, will open at the Met on October 18 in the first company performances of the ambitious historical epic in more than 80 years-and its first-ever Met performances in its original French. The new staging is directed by Pierre Audi, the incoming Artistic Director of the Park Avenue Armory and conducted by Met Principal Conductor Fabio Luisi. Rossini's opera tells the story of a Swiss revolutionary on a quest for freedom. Its famous "William Tell Overture" is one of the best-known and most performed pieces in the standard classical repertory, though the opera, which makes considerable demands on its stars, orchestra, and chorus, has rarely been presented in modern times. Gerald Finley will star in the title role, which he has made a specialty of in recent seasons, with Marina Rebeka as the Princess Mathilde;  Bryan Hymel as her suitor Arnold; Maria Zifchak as Tell's wife Hedwige; Janai Brugger as their son Jemmy; Italian bass Marco Spotti in his Met debut as Walter Furst; Kwangchul Youn as Arnold's father Melcthal; and John Relyea as Gesler.
