The Film Society of Lincoln Center announced today Let Us Now Praise Famous Men: The Films of Pedro Costa, from July 17-23. The series precedes the opening of the Portuguese auteur's long-awaited, "hauntingly beautiful" (Variety) new film, Horse Money, which played last fall at the 52nd New York Film Festival and opens theatrically at the Film Society on July 18.

The Pittsburgh Cultural Trust is pleased to announce the fourth season for the 2015-2016 TRUST Cabaret Series. This popular series provides audiences with a rare opportunity to experience the finest cabaret artists and their outstanding musical accompanists at the intimate Cabaret at Theater Square, 655 Penn Avenue, in downtown Pittsburgh's Cultural District. Baltimore, Md. (March 23, 2015) - For the conclusion of the 2014-2015 season, the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra (BSO) and Music Director Marin Alsop lead the BSO premiere of Leonard Bernstein's comedic operetta Candide tonight, June 11 at the Music Center at Strathmore, and June 12 through June 14 at the Joseph Meyerhoff Symphony Hall. The BSO announced today that the semi-staged production of Candide will be directed by Garnett Bruce and features an all-star cast including Peter Sagal, the host of NPR's weekly current events quiz show "Wait Wait…Don't Tell Me," and Judy Kaye, Tony Award-winning star of The Phantom of the Opera. Rounding out the cast are Keith Jameson, Lauren Snouffer, Joshua Hopkins, Mark Diamond, Marie Lenormand, Stephanie Sadownik, Curtis Bannister, Patrick Cook, Andrew McLaughlin, Melissa Wimbish and Lewis Shaw.

The Muny announced today its complete cast for Stephen Sondheim (music and lyrics) and James Lapine's (book) Into The Woods, playing July 21-27. The production will be directed by Gary Griffin, choreographed by Chris Bailey and music directed by Brad Haak.

The Sandman is a mythical character originating from European folklore who brings good dreams by sprinkling magic sand on children's eyes to help them fall asleep at night. Shirley Anne Baker's book tells the story about what happens when 'The Sandman Takes a Break' (published by Xlibris).

Palo Alto Players held its third annual Season Announcement party on January 31, unveiling the shows for its 2015-16 season - as well as a new logo! Managing Director Diana Lynn Wiley and Artistic Director Patrick Klein worked with Joey McDaniel to create the new public face of Palo Alto Players. "Joey is a great friend of Palo Alto Players," said Wiley. "Audience members would recognize him from his role as Igor in last season's Young Frankenstein, and he's also playing Uncle Fester in our upcoming production of The Addams Family. We're happy to share another dimension of his wonderful artistry, and are so excited to be able to keep our logo redesign in the family."

Featuring four performers, marionettes of various sizes and assorted antique moose and deer antlers, the piece will be presented by Theater for the New City tonight, March 5 to 22. The piece is written and directed by Vit Horejs and co-created by Horejs and the cast.

The Canadian Opera Company'sGlencore Ensemble Studio School Tourreturns to elementary and middle schools across Ontario from November 3 – 30, 2014. Two engaging and entertaining operas by Canadian composer Dean Burry headline the tour for 2014: The Bremen Town Musicians and The Scorpions' Sting: An Egyptian Myth. These child-friendly operas expect to reach 16,000 students from Kindergarten to grade eight over the course of the tour.

From September 4-14, 2014, Houston Ballet launches its 45th season with the company premiere of John Neumeier's three-act ballet A Midsummer Night's Dream. The ballet is based on Shakespeare's lighthearted play of the same name and follows the hijinks and hilarity that ensues when a well-intentioned plan with a love potion goes awry. Created in 1977, A Midsummer Night's Dream has served as Mr. Neumeier's calling card, being seen as one of his most joyous and popular creations. Houston Ballet is the first American ballet company to perform the famous work and it is the first piece by Mr. Neumeier to enter the Houston Ballet repertoire.
