Bang on a Can and the Jewish Museum's 2018-2019 concert season, pairing innovative music with the Museum's exhibitions and showcasing leading female performers and composers, continues on Thursday, November 15, 2018 at 7:30pm.

Monchhichi, the 2017 original CGI-animated series co-produced by Paris-based Technicolor Animation Productions and TF1 in collaboration with Sekiguchi based on the iconic lovable plush, will have its U.S. premiere on the Boomerang premium subscription streaming service. The deal was secured by PGS Entertainment, the global series distributor (excluding France).

As we approach the centenary of the Armistice of 1918, leading rural touring companies New Perspectives and Pentabus have joined forces for the first time to explore the legacies of conflict and the unexpected stories that emerge from war. Shifting between 1919 and 2019, this subversive piece of new writing by award-winning Irish playwright Deirdre Kinahan looks at solace across the century: those who have found refuge in the English countryside from more recent conflicts in Sarajevo, and those who turned to women's clothing to escape the bravado and brutality of military life in the WW1 trenches.

New York City Economic Development Corporation (NYCEDC) today announced that world-renowned artists, Busta Rhymes and Justine Skye will perform at the first ever, FREE Block Party at the Brooklyn Army Terminal (BAT) on Saturday, September 15 in Sunset Park. The BAT Block Party will celebrate the campus' 100th birthday and is open to ALL AGES.

An historic performance of Benjamin Britten's War Requiem by The Bach Choir on October 3rd at Westminster Cathedral will be supported by a cast of three celebrities speaking and reading about the horrors of war. The Requiem was Britten's musical plea for peace. He chose The Bach Choir to perform on the first recording of the work almost 60 years ago and now once more they will be performing the work.

The opening of a special exhibition exploring the military relationship between the United States and Australia through art, the fourth annual Night at the Tower gala and a presentation from New York Times best-selling author Neal Bascomb are among the September events at the National WWI Museum and Memorial.

The Hungarian State Opera (HSO), one of the world's busiest opera companies, comes to the United States this fall for the first time ever, presenting four operas by Hungarian composers, including two U.S. premieres, at Lincoln Center's David H. Koch Theater, October 30 to November 3. This week of opera is followed by another week of performances presented by the Hungarian National Ballet, November 6 to 11, as well as an opera and ballet gala on November 4 and the Carnegie Hall debut of the HSO Orchestra on November 5. These U.S. performances build upon the HSO's rich history of touring, which stretches back 100 years and includes performances in numerous European capitals including Amsterdam, Helsinki, Moscow, Paris, Rome, Stockholm, and Vienna, and in countries including Canada, China, Egypt, Japan (ten times), Mexico, Taiwan, and Peru. Ongoing renovations to the Hungarian State Opera House have presented an opportunity for increased touring this season, including the chance to introduce American audiences to the company and its repertoire, much of it rarely seen or heard.

Jennifer Jewell presents 'Raison d'etre: an Evening of Pirandello,' adapted from selected works by Nobel Prize Laureate for Literature and Italian dramatist, novelist, poet, and writer Luigi Pirandello. 'Raison d'etre: an Evening of Pirandello,' explores the complexity and depth of Pirandello's work by taking his seminal play, 'Six Characters in Search of an Author' and infusing it with characters and themes from two of his notable one-act plays, 'Chee Chee' and 'The Man with the Flower In His Mouth.'

His August program will include the famous C Sharp Minor Prelude, Clair de lune, and stirring Etudes of both composers; a lively Q&A will follow. 'A musical bridge-builder in action..Siegel showed just how illuminating the combination of words and abstract music can be' (Toronto Star).

The Contemporary American Theater Festival (CATF) at Shepherd University is the proud recipient of a grant from the Claude Worthington Benedum Foundation to support the Rural Arts Collaborative (RAC). Supported by the Foundation, students from Magnolia High School in Wetzel County, West Virginia will tour their immersive art exhibition, Where?, to Shepherdstown for an arts residency this month during the Contemporary American Theater Festival. The student artists will showcase and share their work with Eastern Panhandle residents and visitors.

The Washington Chorus begins its 58th season on Sunday, November 18, 2018 with performances of Johannes Brahms' magnificent A German Requiem, Op. 45 and Benjamin Britten's Ballad of Heroes at the Kennedy Center Concert Hall. Brahms' beloved work looks to console the living, while Britten's Ballad urges the listener to remember the sacrifices made on their behalf by soldiers killed in war. Artistic Director Christopher Bell conceived the program to commemorate the 100th anniversary of Armistice Day (November 11, 1918), which marked the end of World War I, now recognized as Veterans Day in the United States. Christopher Bell conducts the Chorus and orchestra. Soloists include Laura Choi Stuart, soprano and Rob McGinness, baritone.

On Saturday, September 29, 2018 at Severance Hall, America's preeminent performing arts television series Great Performances in association with ideastream will record The Cleveland Orchestra's 100th Anniversary Gala Concert for an exclusive U.S. television broadcast on PBS slated for 2019. The broadcast is a co-production of The Cleveland Orchestra, ideastream, and THIRTEEN Productions LLC for WNET.

The Pew Center for Arts & Heritage announced 45 grants today in support of the Philadelphia region's cultural organizations and artists. The 2018 awards total more than $8.7 million and provide funding for 12 Pew Fellowships and 33 Project grants.

During his remarkable career with the Boston Red Sox, Ted Williams earned many nicknames - The Kid, The Splendid Splinter and Teddy Ballgame, but the only nickname that he wanted was “the greatest hitter who ever lived.” In that pursuit, he combined his preternatural gifts with a fierce work ethic to become widely regarded as one of the greatest ever to play the game of baseball and in the process elevated the science of hitting in ways still emulated today.

 Bang on a Can celebrates summer 2018 by showcasing the breadth of its adventurous curatorial vision with concerts June through September at three visual arts institutions – The Noguchi Museum and the Jewish Museum in New York City, and the Bang on a Can Summer Music Festival at MASS MoCA in North Adams, MA.

Chicago Youth Symphony Orchestras (CYSO) presents the spring concert of its world-renowned Symphony Orchestra at Chicago's Orchestra Hall (220 S. Michigan Ave.) on Sunday, May 20, 2018 at 7:30 p.m. Made up of some of the most talented and dedicated young musicians from across the Chicago region, the 125-member ensemble is led by Music Director Allen Tinkham. The concert will feature an all-American program of disparate cross-genre voices that explore the many 'Americas' that make up our country.
