The stunning new production of Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber's Evita will make its Twin Cities premiere January 28-February 2, 2014 at the Orpheum Theatre (910 Hennepin Ave.) in Minneapolis. This version features updated orchestrations, choreography and scenic design offering a more authentic portrait of Argentinean culture and Eva's rise to and fall from power. Muny Executive Producer Mike Isaacson announced today the directors, choreographers and music directors for the Muny's 2014 Season, which opens on June 16 with Billy Elliot The Musical. "We're so happy these exciting artists are creating our 2014 season," said Isaacson. "This is a challenging season, one with incredible variety and power. We're fortunate that such extraordinary talents will be creating our 'Muny Magic.'"

Happy Birthday, Ricky Martin! During his career he has sold more than 60 million album copies worldwide. He is the founder of Ricky Martin Foundation (in Spanish Fundacion Ricky Martin), a non-profit charity organization. Ricky Martin's exuberant 1999 single 'Livin' la Vida Loca' made him a prominent figure of Latin dance-pop. Martin got his start with the all-boy pop group Menudo; after five years with the group, he released his Spanish-language solo album, Ricky Martin, in 1991. His other studio albums include: Me Amaras (1993), A Medio Vivir (1995), Vuelve (1998), Sound Loaded (2000), Almas del Silencio (2003), Life (2005), and Musica + Alma + Sexo (2011). In 1996, Martin starred in the Broadway's Les Miserables, and he is currently starring as 'Che' in Evita at the Marquis Theatre.

Producers Hal Luftig, Scott Sanders, Troika Entertainment & The Nederlander Organization have announced that EVITA will return to L.A. by way of Hollywood Pantages for a limited three week engagement; October 23 - November 10, 2013.

Tony Award-winner and vocalist Audra McDonald is coming to Houston tonight, Oct. 19, at 8 p.m. in the Brown Theater at the Wortham Theater Center, presented by Society for the Performing Arts. Accompanying her on stage will be Houston native Andy Einhorn.

The Children's Theatre at Way Off Broadway has been a part of The Way Off Broadway Dinner Theatre, a leader in the region's theater community and one of the area's premiere entertainment venues, since 1996 when it opened with an original production of Sleep Beauty. That was the beginning of what would become one of the most popular family entertainment spots in Frederick. To this day, the Children's Theatre at Way Off Broadway is the area's only children's lunch theater, offering a family-friendly meal before each show.

Today in 1979, Evita opened at the Broadway Theatre, where it ran for 1567 performances. Evita is a musical with music by Andrew Lloyd Webber and lyrics by Tim Rice. It concentrates on the life of Argentine political leader Eva Peron, the second wife of Argentine president Juan Peron. The story follows Evita's early life, rise to power, charity work, and eventual death. Evita began as a rock opera concept album released in 1976. Its success led to productions in London's West End in 1978, and on Broadway a year later, both of which enjoyed considerable success. A major 1996 film of the musical starred Madonna and Antonio Banderas. In 2006, the musical was revived in London, and on Broadway in 2012.

The Way Off Broadway Dinner Theatre launched its Children Theatre in 1996. Since then, no show has ever been as popular as the smash hit Pinkalicious - The Musical. When the fun, family friendly first appeared on the Children's Theatre stage, it was to open the 2012 Season. The production quickly sold out. When the run was briefly expanded, those performances also sold out. Beginning tonight, September 14, Pinkalicious will return to the Children's Theatre at Way Off Broadway, back by overwhelming demand!

While the new touring production of EVITA is solid overall, individual elements never quite mesh and the performance is missing the sparkle it needs to soar.

Pinkalicious - The Musical, which will run from September 14 - November 2, 2013, is the tale, based on the popular book by Victoria Kann and Elizabeth Kann, of Pinkalicious, who can't stop eating pink cupcakes despite warnings from her parents. Her pink indulgence lands her at the doctor's office with Pinkititis, an affliction that turns her pink from head to toe - a dream come true for this pink loving enthusiast. But when her hue goes too far, only Pinkalicious can figure out a way to get out of this pink predicament.

Tomorrow marks an exciting landmark for Million Dollar Quartet. The Chicago production is celebrating 2,000 performances. To mark the occasion, original MDQ cast member (now on the National Tour) Kelly Lamont will join the company for a 'Sitting in with the Band' appearance during the encore. The company will celebrate with a specially-designed cake, courtesy of The French Pastry School.

Renowned Oscar Wilde expert Alan Stanford, PICT's interim Producing Artistic Director, will direct his adaptation of the great Irish playwright's comedy, Lady Windermere's Fan. Wilde's play, first produced in 1892 in London, satirizes the morality of Victorian society. Stanford has moved the setting forward in time to 1947; in post-World-War II London, Wilde's language and ridicule of high-society still resonate. Oscar Wilde was not so much a writer of polite English comedy, but rather a biting Irish satirist who lampooned the social absurdities and prejudices of the English upper classes, prejudices that lasted well into the Twentieth Century. This production, which runs tonight, July 11 through July 27, is PICT's third show of the season, and features a cast of 17 actors.
