Austin Film Festival & Writers Conference (AFF), the premier film festival recognizing the writers' contributions to film, television, and new media, announced today that Natalie Portman drama Vox Lux will bow as the Opening Night Film for the fest's 25th Anniversary, running October 25 through November 1. Austin Film Festival's Opening Night Film is presented by Hiscox Insurance.

Misty Copeland will open the 61st annual Dance Magazine Awards. The evening will honor Ronald K. Since 1954 the Dance Magazine Awards have recognized outstanding men and women whose contributions have left a lasting impact on dance. This year's Awards will take place on Monday December 3, 2018 at The Ailey Citigroup Theater at 7:30pm.

After 144 performances of seven different productions presented over 55 days, Pennsylvania Shakespeare Festival concluded the 27th season with its rotating repertory of Shakespeare in Love and King Richard II; and its "Extreme Shakespeare," production of All's Well That Ends Well.

The Kennedy Center, in partnership with the Dizzy Feet Foundation and Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton (D-DC), invites everyone to celebrate the art of dance and joy of movement as the Center hosts the East Coast's chapter of the annual National Dance Day on Saturday, July 28, 2018, from2:00 to 10:30 p.m.

In celebration of the 50th anniversary of The Beatles' Yellow Submarine, the Drexel Theatre will present a special screening of the classic 1968 animated feature film on July 12. Now restored in full 4K digital resolution, this timeless icon of psychedelic pop culture combined the pioneering animation techniques of the time with dazzling visual invention, witty dialogue, and of course, glorious music, including "Eleanor Rigby," "When I'm Sixty-Four," "Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds," "All You Need Is Love," and "It's All Too Much.'

The Philadelphia Young Pianists' Academy (PYPA) will be celebrating its sixth year as an international event from August 5 through August 12, 2018. They are inaugurating a new home for the experience at the prestigious Academy of Vocal Arts located at 1920 Spruce St in Philadelphia. There will be eight days of concerts by world-class pianists, master classes by some of the most highly respected pianists and professors and student concerts. Founder Ching-Yun Hu is pleased to expand the program this year with more concerts and a speaker series.

Scott Wheeler's opera, The Sorrows of Frederick, will be seen at Brooklyn's Irondale Center on Friday, May 18, 2018, at 8pm. Act 1 of this two-act opera is being presented as part of Center for Contemporary Opera's Development Series. The libretto is by Romulus Linney. Mark Shapiro conducts and Beth Greenberg is the stage director with Keith Phares singing the title role of Frederick.

 A Noise Within (ANW), the acclaimed classical repertory theatre company, is bringing back its smash hit production of MICHAEL FRAYN's hilarious NOISES OFF from now until Saturday, May 26, 2018, reviving a critical and audience favorite for all to enjoy. Two performances on Saturday, May 26 were just added due to popular demand.

The Actors Fund, the national human services organization for everyone in performing arts and entertainment, will hold its Annual Gala on Monday, May 14, 2018. The evening will celebrate Academy Award-winning actor and filmmaker Warren Beatty, Tony Award-winning Broadway and film director Kenny Leon, currently director of Children of a Lesser God on Broadway, two-time Tony Award-winning actress, singer and dancer Chita Rivera, and Golden Globe-winning, Academy Award and Emmy-nominated actress Uma Thurman. Mr. Beatty, Mr. Leon, Ms. Rivera and Ms. Thurman will be awarded The Actors Fund's Medal of Honor. Goodman Theatre revives Having Our Say: The Delany Sisters' First 100 Years, Emily Mann's "warming theatrical event" (Variety)that celebrates the lives of "two strong, vibrant women dispensing joy and wisdom" (Chicago Tribune). Goodman Theatre Resident Director Chuck Smith's production features Ella Joyce and Marie Thomas as the Delany centenarians, Bessie (1891 - 1995) and Sadie (1889 -1999), respectively, as they trace their lives in a heartfelt reflection of their family history and triumphs over prejudices in times of social unrest.

Inspired by the current political climate, Suffolk University Theatre Professor Wesley Savick brings a new musical to the Modern Theatre, one state, two state / red state, blue state. The musical features new songs in the indigenous American languages of folk, country, blues, jazz and Broadway. The story focuses on what happens when "Betty" and "Bill" - former lovers living on opposite sides of the country - rekindle their relationship after a long separation.
