Hartford Stage, under the leadership of Artistic Director Darko Tresnjak and Managing Director Michael Stotts, today announced the casts and creative team for Classical Repertory for a New Generation, the theatre's new initiative to produce two classics in repertory each season, featuring a new adaptation of Marivaux's La Dispute, in repertory with Shakespeare's Macbeth, both directed by Tresnjak, the first shows of the Tony Award-winning theatre's 50th Anniversary Season.

Culture Project dives into the summer with the Women Center Stage 2013 Festival, today, July 8 - August 3, 2013 at the newly named Lynn Redgrave Theater (45 Bleecker Street). The month long Festival will feature works written, directed and produced entirely by women, including work by Lynn Redgrave (Shakespeare For My Father), Staceyann Chin (Def Poetry Jam on Broadway), Dael Orlandersmith (Yellowman, Beauty's Daughter), Lucy Alibar (Beasts of the Southern Wild), Dominique Morriseau (Detroit '67), Leila Buck (In The Crossing), and Kelly Zen-Yie Tsai ('Russell Simmon Presents HBO Def Poetry'), directors Gaye-Taylor Upchurch (Bethany, Harper Regan), Jackson Gay (Collapse) and Nicole A. Watson (2013 Drama League Directing Fellow), poetry composed by Afghan women collected by Guggenheim Fellow Eliza Griswold, and an evening written by girls ages 10-18 from Girl Be Heard, viBe Theater Experience, Urban Word NYC and the Prospect Theater Summer Teen Intensive.

Snap-Two Productions, Inc. and LimanAde Productions in association with Issembert Productions, Inc. will present a staged reading of the new drama with music, Signs of Life, at American University in the Katzen Arts Center Studio Theatre tonight, June 1 at 7:00 P.M. and June 2 at 1:00 P.M. The performances will feature American University alumni, current students and a student from BRAVO@KAT, the children's wing of Kensington Arts Theatre. This is the first academic production of Signs of Life.

All four will be joined by special guest star Kerry Ellis* (Wicked, Oliver, We Will Rock You, Born Free Tour with Brian May) for the limited run at the Vaudeville Theatre from 25 May to 22 June.

Beloved Broadway producer Roy Miller passed away suddenly early Sunday morning, April 28, 2013 following a brief illness. Roy produced the multiple Tony Award nominated Broadway productions of The Drowsy Chaperone and this season's A Christmas Story: The Musical. His other Broadway producing credits include West Side Story, Ragtime, [title of show] and The Pee-Wee Herman Show among others. He recently served as Producing Artistic Director of Surflight Theatre from 2010 to 2012 and also served as Associate Producer of Paper Mill Playhouse from 1991 to 2004.

Lee Mead (Wicked, Legally Blonde, BBC Series Winner of Any Dream Will Do) will be joined by special guest star Kerry Ellis for selected performances (Wicked, Oliver, We Will Rock You, Born Free Tour with Brian May) in The West End Men, running at the Vaudeville Theatre from 25 May until 22 June, with press night on 3 June 2013. The West End Men is directed by the award winning Mitch Sebastian (The Rat Pack Live from Las Vegas) and produced by Milton Morrissey Ltd, Jason Haigh Ellery and in association with Paul Tyrer & Jamie Clark for The Booking Office. Anyone who has seen Rent knows "One Song Glory" as essentially Roger's fight song. Any version of this song I've heard has sounded exactly like Adam Pascal's (the song's originator). Nonetheless, Ms. Espinosa put an entirely new motivation behind the song. For Eden Espinosa, this is not a fight song. It's a song of recognition. The character is dying. However, it is also a song of redemption. This character is not fighting. This character is saying goodbye. It's the polar opposite of the established version of the song.

In this adaptation of the Brothers Grimm fairy tale 'The Girl Without Hands,' narrated by Satan himself, a father accidentally sells his daughter to the Devil. When our heroine cleverly escapes, a lyrical love story laced with devilish humor unfolds. The production features a bluegrass score by longtime Kneehigh composer Stu Barker, performed by live musicians and the cast.
