The Old Globe's QUARTET Extends Through August 31

The Old Globe today announced additional performances for the third production of the 2014 Summer Season, Ronald Harwood's comedy Quartet, directed by Richard Seer (Other Desert Cities, God of Carnage, The Last Romance). Harwood received an Academy Award for his screenplay of The Pianist and was nominated for The Diving Bell and the Butterfly and The Dresser (also a hit on Broadway and the West End). By popular demand, it will now play through Sunday, August 31. Tickets for the extension will go on sale to the general public on Sunday, August 10 at 12:01 a.m.

GIAMPIERO INGRASSIA e MARIA LAURA BACCARINI presenteranno il Gala dei 'Premi BroadwayWorld Italia 2013/2014' al TEATRO BRANCACCIO di Roma il 23 SETTEMBRE ore 21.00!! La splendida e prestigiosa cornice che ormai e il punto di riferimento dei migliori spettacoli musicali di Roma sara la perfetta location per una vera e propria FESTA del teatro musicale italiano. Come gia annunciato in precedenza, le coreografie saranno ideate da Stefano Bontempi (gia coreografo, tra i tanti, in CHICAGO, GYPSY, STANNO SUONANDO LA NOSTRA CANZONE), mentre le routine di tap dance saranno a cura di Marco Rea (tra gli altri, RUGANTINO e il suo TUTTO DIPENDE DA ME... O QUASI). I costumi e gli abiti di scena porteranno la firma di Mariu De Sica. Altro grande nome che si va ad aggiungere a questo squadrone di fuoriclasse e quello di Dino Scuderi (SALVATORE GIULIANO, ODYSSEUS-DANCE OPERA), che dirigera i momenti musicali dello show e firmera il grande opening number originale. Scenic designer, writer and professor, MARJORIE BRADLEY KELLOGG, and costume designer DEBORAH M. DRYDEN are among the 2014 TDF/Irene Sharaff Awards recipients. The awards will be presented at a ceremony on Friday, May 2, at 6:30pm, at the Hudson Theatre (145 West 44th Street). Ms. Kellogg will receive the Robert L.B. Tobin Award for Sustained Excellence in Theatrical Design and Ms. Dryden was selected to receive the 2014 TDF/Irene Sharaff Lifetime Achievement Award for costume design. Ms. Kellogg's award will be presented to her by director Kenny Leon and Ms. Dryden's award will be presented to her by designer David Woolard.

Signature Theatre has announced that the 'World of the Play' series continues with a panel of experts discussing The Practice and Performance of Kung Fu, presented in conjunction with the world premiere of David Henry Hwang's Kung Fu, on Saturday, March 29th from 4:30 to 6 p.m. in The Irene Diamond Stage at The Pershing Square Signature Center (480 West 42nd Street between 9th and 10th Avenues). The committee of prior recipients has made this selection to honor their dedication to the Seattle theatre community, much of it through their efforts with The New City Theatre. This award along with 17 others will be presented at the 5th Annual Gregory Awards being held at The Neptune Theatre on Monday, October 28, 2013 at 7:30pm.

'Stravinsky Re-invented: From Paris to Los Angeles,' the second and final weekend of the 24th annual Bard Music Festival in New York'sAnnandale-on-Hudson, follows Igor Stravinsky from Europe to post-war Hollywood, investigating his subsequent shift in style from neoclassicism to serialism. The weekend opens tonight, August 16, with a screening of film clips that document the great Russian innovator, with commentary by Professor Charles M. Joseph, author of Stravinsky Inside Out. This special session is followed by the weekend's first concert, 'Against Interpretation and Expression: The Aesthetics of Mechanization,' a program of postmodernist ensemble classics by Stravinsky, Bartók, Varèse, Hindemith, and Messiaen; soloists include Grammy-nominated pianist Peter Serkin and So Percussion's Eric Beach.
