CAROL LIPNIK - the spellbinding, wistfully-humorous singer and songwriter called an 'ethereal vocal phenomenon' by The New York Times - will welcome special guests for her Sunday Night Spring Residency at Pangea running Sunday nights at 7:00 PM through Sunday, June 26.

CAROL LIPNIK -- the spellbinding, darkly-humorous singer and songwriter who blends folk music and art song with the classic nightclub tradition -- continues her acclaimed weekly residency after rave reviews. In addition, she recently earned two BroadwayWorld.com Award nominations for "Best Female Vocalist" and "Alt Cabaret Show." Performances are at Pangea (178 Second Avenue in New York) on Sunday evenings at 7:30 PM through January 31, 2016. The concert engagement is produced by TWEED TheaterWorks (Lypsinka), DAX MGMT (Weimar New York, Joey Arias) and Pangea.

Now in it's sixth season, The Fire This Time Festival will welcome seven new playwrights into the family, January 19-February 8 at The Kraine Theater (85 East 4th Street between 2nd Avenue and Bowery). These playwrights will present an evening of ten-minute plays, each inspired by one of Alex Harsley's original photographs. This year's festival will also feature the World Premiere of Nathan Yungerberg's play Pousada Azul, directed by Russel G. Jones (Father Comes Home from the Wars at The Public). Special events will include a play reading series, an open mic night, a movie screening, and a panel discussion on art and activism. Beginning tonight, July 12, and through August 20, Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz will host the 34th annual Seaside Summer Concert Series at Coney Island and the 30th annual Martin Luther King Jr. Concert Series at Wingate Field in Crown Heights.

On Thursday, May 24, Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz joined Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg to kick off the summer season in Coney Island with the announcement of two brand new thrill rides and the beginning of seven-day-a-week amusement operations. Later, BP Markowitz was on hand with actor Tony Danza as John "Cha Cha" Ciarcia celebrated the opening of several new amusements and eateries.
