Once a year the stars flock to Toronto's largest theatrical venue - The Sony Centre - for a magical evening of music, song, dance and variety called It's Always Something! The event honours the memory and wish of the late Gilda Radner, who died of ovarian cancer in 1989. Gilda loved to laugh and entertain and felt that no one should have to face cancer alone.
In a special interview, co-producer of It's Always Something Rick Muller took some time to talk about the importance of Gilda's Club and why it means so much to him to support this cause and produce this event each year. He talks about losing people to cancer, the importance of living Gilda's message of laughter and magic every day, and of course - what we can expect from the incredible It's Always Something event this year.

This month, a modest production of this powerful but modest show is running on the weekends at Stage 773 in Lakeview, brought to us by a new production company, Another Production Company. The company was founded by Raymond K. Cleveland and Toma Tavares Langston, two men who cut their theatrical teeth in Chicago companies like Theo Ubique Cabaret Theatre, and who serve as co-producers and co-directors for "The Last Five Years." And the show is in The Cab, the smallest of 773's performance spaces, running through October 5, 2012.

Though the team of Richard Maltby, Jr. (lyrics) and David Shire (music) hasn't had much luck when it comes to book musicals (Baby and Big, despite their admirers, struggled through disappointing Broadway runs.) when it comes to Off-Broadway musical revues, the boys are two-time champs. Their 1970s hit, Starting Here, Starting Now, was topped in 1989 by a 300+ performance run of Closer Than Ever, which is now getting a sparkling revival at the York.
