PNC Broadway in Louisville fills the Kentucky Center this week with the current tour of the 1993 Broadway hit Beauty and the Beast, the stage version of the 1991 Disney animated movie. The opening night audience included many family groups who clearly were fans of the movie.

Bugsy Malone re-opened the Lyric Hammersmith in April 2015 following a multi-million pound redevelopment and the creation of the Reuben Foundation Wing. It was the UK's first professional stage production of Bugsy Malone in over a decade.

Encores! Artistic Director Jack Viertel today announced the creative teams for New York City Center's 2016 Encores! season. J. Bernard Calloway, Chuck Cooper, Marva Hicks, Carly Hughes, LaChanze, Norm Lewis, Forrest McClendon, and J.D. Webster will star in Vernon Duke and John Latouche's jazz?filled fable Cabin in the Sky, running for seven performances at City Center from February 10-14. The 1940 musical will be directed by Tony Award winner Ruben Santiago?Hudson with choreography by Camille A. Brown.

On Friday, November 13th, the Theater People Podcast is releasing a bonus 'catching up' episode with previous guest, Tony Award-winner Daisy Eagan. Eagan became the youngest female Tony Award winner, when she won the Tony Award for Best Featured Actress in a Musical for originating the role of Mary Lennox in the 1991 Broadway production of THE SECRET GARDEN. She was also seen on Broadway in LES MISERABLES and JAMES JOYCE'S THE DEAD.

The 10 foot tall magical clock features a sculpted 3 ft tall owl whose wings open to a 5ft span and eyes light up as the clock strikes. Russian Designer Valentin Fedorov, of Chibaksari Opera House and graduate of Bolshoi Theater Design School, created Moscow Ballet's fanciful 10” tall animal puppets, backdrops with 3-d effect and more. New costumes for Act I designed by Resident Designer Arthur Oliver, known for his work nationally and at Shakespeare & Company, are created by hand in St Petersburg by one of the world's oldest theatrical shops.  Moscow Ballet's Christmas production of the Great Russian Nutcracker will be in New York City at Kings Theater Saturday December 5, 3:00pmmatinee. The Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park's joyous, time-honored celebration of the true spirit of the holidays achieves the quarter-century mark this season as U.S. Bank presents Charles Dickens' iconic story A CHRISTMAS CAROL. The beloved tale, enjoyed each season by multiple generations of Cincinnatians, will be performed for its 25th year in the Playhouse's Robert S. Marx Theatre from Nov. 25 through Dec. 30.

In January 2016, The Children's Theatre of Cincinnati (TCTC), the country's oldest theater for young audiences, will open a new destination for theater education, expanding its reach into the community. With this new building comes the creation of a new leadership infrastructure capitalizing upon existing internal talent.

Karen Zacarias' new telenovela-inspired comedy Destiny of Desire receives its world premiere at Arena Stage at the Mead Center for American Theater, kicking off the company's 66th season with dramatic storytelling and comic flair. Zacarias, an inaugural resident playwright of the theater's American Voices New Play Institute whose previous credits include The Book Club Play and Legacy of Light, collaborates with renowned director Jose Luis Valenzuela, Artistic Director of the Latino Theater Company, to bring the Latin-American telenovela genre to life on stage. Destiny of Desire runs September 11-October 18, 2015 in the Kreeger Theater.

Stella Abrera and Misty Copeland have been promoted to the rank of Principal Dancer with American Ballet Theatre and Skylar Brandt, Thomas Forster, Arron Scott and Cassandra Trenary have been promoted to Soloist effective August 1, 2015.   In addition, Maria Kochetkova, a principal dancer with San Francisco Ballet and Alban Lendorf, a principal dancer with Royal Danish Ballet will join the Company as Principal Dancers and Jeffrey Cirio, a principal dancer with Boston Ballet, will join ABT as a Soloist, it was announced today by Artistic Director Kevin McKenzie.
