The special event is being presented as part of statewide festivities organized by Utah's Transcontinental Railroad 150th Celebration Commission, also known as Spike 150, which was founded by the Utah State Legislature and Governor Gary Herbert.

Last spring I sat with a rapt audience seeing Levi Frazier, Junior's new play For Our Freedom and Yours, a one-man show is based on the life of Ira Frederick Aldridge, a 19th Century African American actor who, against all odds, achieved a distinguished stage career during the era of slavery. The drama takes place on the evening of August 7, 1867 in Lodz, Poland.

Jim Caruso & Billy Stritch return to Bemelmans at The Carlyle Hotel this month with their evening of swinging standards. The two performers, who have performed extensively on their own, gained national exposure together as the host and musical director of the wildly popular open mic, Cast Party, which celebrates talent every Monday at Birdland in NYC, and tours nationally. The production just opened last night, February 25 and will now play through Sunday, March 24 in The Alice Griffin Jewel Box Theatre at The Pershing Square Signature Center (480 West 42nd Street between 9th and 10th Avenues).
