The Huntington Theatre Company's Department of Education celebrates the 12th anniversary of the national Poetry Out Loud contest, having facilitated the competition in Massachusetts since its inception in 2006. This year, 76 high school students from across the Commonwealth of Massachusetts will participate in four regional semi-final contests March 4 and March 5.

They join the previously announced musical theatre stars Sharon D. Clarke (Sonja), who was recently appointed Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) in the 2017 Queen's New Year Honours for services to drama, and Cornell S. John (Memphis).

The Lake Effect Fringe Festival kicks off its 5th season of bringing new theatre to West Michigan all through the month of February on Wednesday, February 1 and 2, 2017 at 8:00 pm with a performance by Shadblow Theatre, reprising their production of Anatomy of Gray, by Jim Leonard. Seeking to raise questions about what it means to be a part of this incredibly diverse world, the heart of this play touches on themes relevant to all. Fast-paced clever staging, beautiful lyrical narration, and a small but talented nine person ensemble, this play offers a compelling story in an immersive setting that is sure to offer a lot of laughs and a few tears. 

Broadway veteran Mamie Parris recently assumed the iconic role of 'Grizabella the Glamour Cat' in the first-ever Broadway revival of Andrew Lloyd Webber's CATS. The show just unveiled a new TV commercial, featuring Parris and the company in action - check it out below!

According to Doha News, Andrew Lloyd Webber's CATS will bow in Qatar in early 2017. Tickets are now on sale for the musical, which will run at the Qatar National Convention Center, February 1-4.

For it's 35th season Inside Broadway and it's Creating the Magic program invited 2,500 NYC school children inside the Neil Simon Theatre to get a behind the scenes look at how the musical CATS happens.  The cast and crew of CATS, along with Inside Broadway CEO Michael Presser were on hand to show the excited kids how a Broadway musical comes to life.

Based on the original novel Madame Sousatzka written by Bernice Rubens, SOUSATZKA is set in London, England in 1982 and tells the story of a musical prodigy torn between two powerful women from vastly different worlds: his mother, a political refugee from South Africa and his piano teacher, a brilliant eccentric with a shattered past. These two proud, iconoclastic women must ultimately cross cultural and racial divides to find common ground, or else jeopardize the young musician's destiny.

In celebration of its landmark 35th anniversary season, leading NYC arts education nonprofit Inside Broadway and the Broadway production of Cats will partner with the NYC Public School system in 2016-2017 to provide exciting and enriching arts education programs to thousands of students in over 30 schools, both in the classroom & on Broadway.
