The one-night-only engagement of this unique Irish dance and rock concert at Syracuse's Oncenter Crouse Hinds Theater proved to be a fantastic experience. It offers a fresh take on traditional Irish tunes, showcases some very familiar classic rock hits, incorporates Glen Hansard and Marketa Irglova's Academy Award-winning song 'Falling Slowly,' along with Irish dance. The combination of all of this results in a powerful and memorable entertainment experience. The concert/dance show is referred to as 'the new generation of Irish rock and dance because there's more than one road to the Heart of Ireland.' I must say this generation of Irish dancers is on point!

Walton Arts Center started the 2018-19 Procter & Gamble Broadway Series with a Rodgers and Hammerstein favorite, The King and I, and the season is ending with another classic from the duo, The Sound of Music. Featuring music by Richard Rodgers and lyrics by Oscar Hammerstein II, The Sound of Music will have audiences humming along to favorite tunes and falling in love again with Maria and the von Trapp Family.

The Barn Theatre, Michigan's oldest professional summer theatre, under the artistic leadership of Brendan Ragotzy, announced today the 72nd season of plays and musicals to be presented for the 2018 summer season at the landmark theatre. The Barn structure itself is celebrating 75 years in existence and has housed the Barn Theatre for 72 of them!

Vineyard Theatre's Artistic Directors, Douglas Aibel and Sarah Stern, announce that the world-premiere of THE BEAST IN THE JUNGLE will extend until Sunday, June 17. Georgia Ensemble Theatre (GET) Co-Founder and Producing Artistic Director Anita Allen-Farley has announced Season 26 of the professional theatre company in North Fulton County.

Paul McGill (The Legend of Georgia McBride, Hedwig and the Angry Inch) will choreograph The Music Man at Asolo Rep this fall.  Directed by Jeff Calhoun (Newsies), the production will star Noah Racey (Never Gonna Dance) and run November 13 through December 29, 2018.  Additional casting and creative team members will be announced at a later date.

For the past almost seven years, I've truly enjoyed traveling the Island to tell you about the amazing shows and extraordinary talent that we have. As such, below are some of my picks for this coming season. Ok, to be honest, I'd have listed every show if I could! This week ArtsBridge announced the nominees for the 10th Anniversary Georgia High School Musical Theatre Awards - Shuler Hensley Awards. 38 public and private schools from throughout the state were nominated in 17 categories. The awards show is the culmination of a year-long professional development program and will showcase the next generation of Georgia's musical theatre talent. Presented by the Georgia Lottery, the awards show will air on Georgia Public Broadcasting (GPB) over its nine-station statewide television network live from Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre on April 19, 2018 from 7-9 pm.
