The Park Theatre is partnering with Sunflowers Cafe in Jaffrey for "New Year's Day Brunch with Fred." The film portion of the event will be presented at a private "sneak preview" of the new River Street Theatre, a project of The Park Theatre.

After an impressive career, jazz pianist Vince Guaraldi was hired to score "A Charlie Brown Christmas," followed by seventeen other Peanuts television specials, until his untimely death in 1976. Can you even imagine those animated features with any other soundtrack? Guaraldi and his trio gave sophisticated heart and depth to what could have been just another forgettable cartoon score. At least one night every Christmas season, I walk the cold sidewalks of New York City, headphones on, and Guaraldi playing. I can be the star of my own movie…enjoying my own slightly melancholy, wistful scene while I reminisce about another year spent in the city I adore.

The UNLV Performing Arts Center will welcome back Les Ballets Trockadero de Monte Carlo at 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 24, as part of its signature series.

Two-time Tony Award winner Helen Gallagher has joined the cast of the previously announced 70, Girls, 70 concert at FEINSTEIN'S/54 BELOW, Broadway's Supper Club. Ms. Gallagher, who will serve as the evening's narrator, joins a starry cast of Broadway veterans in the 1971 Kander and Ebb-tuner, set for April 17th, 2017 at 7:00pm and 9:30pm. This holiday season, country legends Larry Gatlin & the Gatlin Brothers will deck the halls with an all-new Christmas album.  On Black Friday, November 25, brothers Larry, Rudy and Steve will release We Say Merry Christmas (Sony RED), the group's first holiday album in more than 10 years.

Steppenwolf for Young Adults (SYA) begins its 2016/17 season with The Burials, a world premiere by acclaimed playwright Caitlin Parrish, directed by Erica Weiss. Inspired by the enduring Greek tragedy, Antigone, the production explores the aftermath of a mass shooting and how one family and one community respond to the tragedy in unique ways. SYA curates numerous workshops, residencies and post-show events to engage both students and adults in the conversation.
