Brodsky/Barshnikov - 2017 - West End History , Info & More

Apollo Theatre
29 Shaftesbury Avenue London

A solo show based on the poems of Nobel laureate Joseph Brodsky, Brodsky / Baryshnikov is the tale of one man’s incredible emotional journey, conceived and directed by acclaimed Latvian director Alvis Hermanis.

Performed by Mikhail Baryshnikov, the play dives deep into Brodsky’s real, visceral and complex compositions, bringing out the truth and meaning in his poignant and eloquent works. Delivered in Russian, Brodsky’s own language, Baryshnikov transports the audience into an imagining of the poet’s own world, through subtle physicality and searing dialogue.

Told through recitations of Brodsky’s poems, this ground-breaking piece of theatre receives its UK premiere at the Apollo Theatre London, presented by Bird&Carrot. A co-production from Hermanis’ own company, The New Riga Theatre, and Baryshnikov Productions, this mesmerising performance plays at the theatre for a limited four shows.
