La Jolla Playhouse announces five shows for its 2015/2016 season, featuring all new works, including the world-premiere musical Come from Away, featuring book, music and lyrics by acclaimed Canadian husband-and-wife team Irene Sankoff and David Hein, directed by Playhouse Artistic Director Christopher Ashley; the world premiere of Indecent, co-created by director Rebecca Taichman (Playhouse's Sleeping Beauty Wakes, Milk Like Sugar), and Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Paula Vogel (How I Learned to Drive), co-produced with Yale Repertory Theatre; and Blueprints to Freedom: An Ode to Bayard Rustin, by Michael Benjamin Washington (Memphis, The Wiz), directed by The Cosby Show's Phylicia Rashad, which had its first workshop during the Playhouse's 2014 DNA New Work Series.

Three lives intertwine in unexpected and profound ways in Israel Horovitz's My Old Lady, a funny, moving drama starring the legendary Estelle Parsons and featuring Angelica Page and Tim Altmeyer. This newly revised, never-before-seen version of Horovitz's 2002 play opens on December 5 (8pm) at the Don & Ann Brown Theatre. Performances continue through January 4, 2015, with specially priced previews on December 3 and 4.

THE LAST SHIP - the new musical with music and lyrics by 16-time Grammy Award-winner Sting and book by Tony Award winner John Logan and Pulitzer Prize-winner Brian Yorkey opens tonight, October 26. The Last Ship is directed by Tony Award winner Joe Mantello and choreographed by Olivier Award winner and Tony Award nominee Steven Hoggett. Ralph Macchio and Mario Cantone will headline the cast of a special industry reading of A Room of My Own, the anticipated new comedy written and directed by Charles Messina. La Jolla Playhouse is the recipient of three prestigious and highly-competitive grants to support its world-premiere production of The Who & The What, by 2013 Pulitzer Prize winner Ayad Akhtar, directed by Kimberly Senior, running February 11 - March 9 in the Sheila and Hughes Potiker Theatre. The grants include the Edgerton Foundation New American Plays Award, as well awards from The Laurents/Hatcher Foundation and The Blanche and Irving Laurie Foundation Theatre Visions Fund.

According to NariNari, Broadway composer Frank Wildhorn (Jekyll & Hyde, Bonnie & Clyde) is currently working on turning Japanese manga series Death Note, into a musical. Wilhorn, who is writing the score, is collaborating with Jack Murphy, who will write the lyrics. The musical is set to premiere in South Korea in 2015, with direction by Tamiya Kuriyama.

Recently, TheatreWorks announced its 2014 line-up of theatrical performances at a party hosted by Spruce Home & Garden, a retailer of upper-end home products and accessories, on Bank Street in New Milford. Over 100 subscribers, donors, and special guests, along with the Board of Directors of TheatreWorks, gathered for a few hours to mingle and dine on appetizers from New Milford's Ristorante Lucia, which then hosted a post-event party at the restaurant.
