Ruth Page Civic Ballet to Present THE NUTCRACKER, 12/5-13

The Ruth Page Civic Ballet is proud to present its annual production of The Nutcracker, choreographed by Ruth Page and co-directed by Victor Alexander and Dolores Lipinski Long. This production, celebrating its 50th anniversary this holiday season, will be performed at Northeastern Illinois University, 3701 W. Bryn Mawr Avenue in Chicago, Saturday, Dec. 5 at 7 p.m. and Sunday, Dec. 6 at 1 and 5 p.m. and at the Ravinia Festival, 200 Ravinia Park Road in Highland Park Dec 13 at 3 and 6 p.m. Tickets for NEIU are $25 for general admission, $20 for seniors and children under the age of 12 and $10 for NEIU students, faculty and staff, one ticket per I.D. card. Also available is 'Tea with Clara,' a delightful tea party which patrons can enjoy with their favorite The Nutcracker characters from 3:15 - 4:45 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 6. Tickets for 'Tea with Clara' include admission to the tea party and either 1 or 5 p.m. show, are $85 for adults and $50 for children under the age of 12. Tickets for the Ravinia performances are $10 reserved seating. Performance tickets are now on sale and may be purchased at www.ruthpage.org. 'Tea with Clara' tickets may also be purchased at www.ruthpage.org.

Former Child Star, Dickie Moore, Dies at Age 89

People reports that former child actor Dickie Moore, best known for his role in 1933's OLIVER TWIST, has died at age 89. Moore passed away on Monday in Connecticut.

Commissioned by the Finborough Theatre, Horniman's Choice brings together four plays by the leading figures of the 'Manchester School' of playwrights - Harold Brighouse, Stanley Houghton and Allan Monkhouse, all originally championed by Annie Horniman, owner of Gaiety Theatre, Manchester, the first regional repertory theatre in Britain. Horniman's Choice runs at the Finborough Theatre, playing Sunday and Monday evenings and Tuesday matinees from Sunday, 27 September 2015 (Press Night: Monday, 28 September 2015 at 7.30pm).

Authors Robert and Isabel Phillips live a 10 minute drive from Aberdeen harbor. They both enjoy the boats going out into the North Sea each day. One late evening, they noticed a seagull sound asleep on the deck of a boat heading out to sea. They often thought of this seagull and hoped it would come home safely. This seagull became their inspiration in writing 'Tammy the Seagull: His Magical Adventure in the North East of Scotland' (published by AuthorHouse UK).

Pearl, a new multi-cultural dance play inspired by the life of Pearl S. Buck, the first woman to win both the Nobel and the Pulitzer Prizes, will have its world premiere at the David H. Koch Theater at Lincoln Center for 4 performances only, August 27-30th. The story, focusing on the substantial influence Pearl had on both Chinese and Western cultures, will be brought to life through new choreography by Daniel Ezralow (Ezralow Dance Company, MOMIX, Sochi Olympics Opening Ceremony, Academy Awards), a new score composed by Jun Miyake (collaborations with Robert Wilson, Pina Bausch, David Byrne and Oliver Stone), dazzling visuals and a company of 30 dancers.
