This September, The Bard College Conservatory of Music celebrates Tower's 80th birthday with a concert program of featuring world premieres of Towers' recent compositions including Small Plus (2018) performed by S? Percussion; Looking Back (2018) performed by the Da Capo Chamber Players; and Thank You (2018), with Dawn Upshaw conducting members of the Bard Conservatory Graduate Vocal Arts Program.

What a night it was at The Muny for Jersey Boys, the 2006 Tony Award winner for Best Musical. And when I say what a night, I mean Oh. What. A. Night. of doo-wop megahits galore! The Muny's opening night audience of over 8,400 showed up ready to be rocked, swayed, grooved, and shook, and all of that and more was delivered.

The Flaming Lips announce their first official “hits” collection on Warner Bros. Records to be released on June 1. Greatest Hits Vol. 1 will compile eleven WBR-era singles and album tracks on a single black vinyl pressing. This is the first time The Lips have presented singles from Transmissions From The Satellite Heart (1993), Clouds Taste Metallic (1995), The Soft Bulletin (1999), Yoshimi Battles The Pink Robots (2002), At War With The Mystics (2006), Embryonic (2009) and their current album Oczy Mlody (2017) on a single disc. The Deluxe digital and Deluxe 3-CD Editionof Greatest Hits Vol.1 significantly expands the concept of their “hits” and gathers some of their best-loved album tracks from the aforementioned albums plus deep cuts from their WBR album debut, Hit To Death In The Future Head (1992), along with music from, Zaireeka (1997), The Flaming Lips And Heady Fwends (2012) and The Terror (2013). The Deluxe Edition will also compile a generous hatful of International single B-sides, studio outtakes and several previously unreleased tracks to present an essential view into the extraordinary body of work from one of the most influential and enduring rock bands of all-time.

Tirelessly leading the fight for racial and labor justice, Huerta evolved into one of the most defiant feminists of the twentieth century — and she continues the fight to this day, at 87. 'Hear my voice, did you really hear me, hear my voice, and you think you know me?' the lyrics of the last song spread throughout the theater, as the audience applauded while the actors took their bow. The theater doors opened and as the audience made their way toward the exit, I could see some people wipe tears from their face, while others were murmuring about how the music was moving. It came to me that once again, BARE: THE MUSICAL has managed to not only 'touch my soul' but the audience's heart.

Skidmore College and the University at Albany have joined forces to bring Skidmore alum Sara Juli back to the Capital Region for performances of her one-woman show, Tense Vagina: an actual diagnosis, a comedic movement/theatre work about motherhood and bladder control. Juli will appear at Skidmore's JKB Theater on Saturday, February 3 at 8pm and then will perform at the UAlbany Performing Arts Center on both Monday and Tuesday, February 5 & 6 at 7:30pm. Both engagements are made possible by the New England Foundation for the Arts' National Dance Project with lead funding from the Doris Duke Charitable Foundation and the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation.

BroadwayWorld has just learned that bare, the movie is in the works from Tony nominated producers Hillary Butorac Weaver and Janet Billig Rich and Tony nominated director Kristin Hanggi at the helm. Hanggi was the original director of the musical and adapted the screenplay for the film.
