AVENUE Q will soon hit another milestone! With this Sunday's (November 15th 7:30pm) performance of the Tony Award-winning musical of AVENUE Q in NYC, the beloved, critically-acclaimed show will make history -- again! -- when it plays its 2,534th performance at New World Stages (340 W. 50 St.), matching the number of performances AVENUE Q ran at the Golden Theatre, where the musical played for 6.5 years before transferring to New World Stages.

The ground-breaking musical hits a new landmark today, July 31, when it celebrates its 12th anniversary at New World Stages (340 W. 50 St.), where AVENUE Q has performed for the past six years, following its triumphant six-year run on Broadway. I've seen three productions of Avenue Q in my life, all of them ranging from the Broadway national tour to a local community theater performance, to Sunday's matinee performed by the Austin Theatre Project. Bottom line: Avenue Q smart, funny, and relatable show. It's crude, sometimes a bit cringe-worthy, but simultaneously downright hilarious. Throw in an equally humorous and catchy soundtrack, and it's no wonder the show won the 2004 Tony Award for Best Musical (beating Wicked, mind you).

The long-running Tony Award-winning musical Avenue Q celebrates its 11th anniversary in New York tonight, July 31 at 8 p.m. with a special interactive social media performance - THE INTERNET IS FOR Q! - at New World Stages (340 W. 50 St.), at which all audience members will be invited to post their experiences during the show on their mobile phones via Twitter, Google+, Instagram, Facebook, etc. Members of the creative team and former cast members are expected to attend - and tweet - the performance, as well, and the evening's events will include surprise twists live from the stage.

The best of Broadway are being presented FREE on six consecutive Thursdays this summer by '106.7 LITE FM's Broadway in Bryant Park 2014' - a lunchtime series on the Bryant Park Stage. Last week's event featured performances from the cast of Avenue Q, including, 'When You Ruv Someone,' 'If You Were Gay,' and 'There's a Fine, Fine Line.' Check out the clips below!
