The Maggie Allesee Department of Theatre and Dance, a program within the College of Fine, Performing and Communication Arts at Wayne State University, is thrilled to honor Michigan native and Tony Award-winning producer of 'Hamilton,' Jeffrey Seller, with the 2019 Apple Award on Wednesday, March 27 at the Fisher Theatre. A private, pre-show reception with Mr. Seller will be held at the Fisher Theatre before guests attend 'Hamilton' that evening at 8 p.m.

Hell in a Handbag Productions launches its 2019 season with a revival of the musical that started it all: POSEIDON! An Upside Down Musical, a musical parody and a loving homage to the classic 1972 film, The Poseidon Adventure, the grandmother of all disaster films. Handbag's very first show will return March 15 - April 28, 2019 at a venue befitting of an ocean liner: The Edge Theater, 5451 N. Broadway in Chicago.

Martha's Trouble Announces First Concert Cruise

Alabama-based husband-and-wife folk/rock duo Martha's Trouble (aka Rob and Jen Slocumb) will be setting sail October 6 through October 13, 2019 on their first-ever concert cruise.  Fans of the pair's music are encouraged to purchase a cabin and join them for a very special, exclusive music experience on the high seas on board the Royal Caribbean's Harmony of the Seas. Fans must purchase a cabin through the duo's site on Fan Club Cruises (https://fanclubcruises.com/event/mathas-trouble-concert-cruise) in order to partake in three Martha's Trouble concerts, a meet-and-greet, and a very special Q&A storytelling session during the course of the cruise.  The fan club offering is limited to 50 cabins, so the shows and special Martha's Trouble events on-board the ship will be intimate and personal for fans who join the fun. Departing from Port Canaveral, Florida, the cruise will visit Labadee in Haiti, San Juan in Puerto Rico, and Phillipsburg in St. Maarten, before returning to Florida.

Director Paul G. Caron has announced the cast for the upcoming CLT production of the hit musical comedy Avenue Q. This puppet-filled comedy, with music and lyrics by Robert Lopez and Jeff Marx and book by Jeff Whitty, Avenue Q is an 'autobiographical and biographical' coming-of-age parable, addressing the issues and anxieties associated with entering adulthood. Winner of the Tony 'Triple Crown' for Best Musical, Best Score and Best Book, Avenue Q is 'part flesh, part felt, and packed with heart.'
