On Saturday July 9th, the Great White Way came to Toronto for one night only, as Broadway stars Audra McDonald, Brian Stokes Mitchell, Jane Krakowski, Raul Esparza and Martin Short joined together with Marvin Hamlisch to bring the Very Very Best of Broadway to The Black Creek Summer Music Festival. It was a perfect starry night, complete with every classic showtune a Broadway lover could dream of. Producers Ben Sprecher and Louise Forlenza, in association with Tony Fusco and Larry Feinman, and by special arrangement with/and based on the Vereinigte Buhnen Wien GmbH production, announced that the new musical REBECCA, based on the classic novel by Daphne du Maurier novel, will open on Broadway Sunday, April 22 at a Shubert theater to be announced. Previews will begin Tuesday, March 27. Sierra Boggess (currently starring in Master Class, The Little Mermaid, Love Never Dies) is in negotiations to play the role of 'I.'

On Monday, May 2, 2011 The New York Pops' marks its 28th birthday with Celebrate Hope, a grand gala evening celebrating the legacy of late actor and comedian Bob Hope and honoring decades of support by Interpublic Group. The event begins at 7:00 PM with a concert at Carnegie Hall featuring a special lineup of concert artists - including Brooke Shields, Cheyenne Jackson, Christine Ebersole, Kelli O'Hara, Maurice Hines, Cartier Williams and special guest Angela Lansbury - under the baton of Music Director Steven Reineke. The New York Pops will also be joined on stage by the singers of The Camp Broadway Kids and the West Point Glee Club. Following the concert, a black tie dinner and dance will be held at the luxurious Plaza Hotel.

New York City Center will honor Walter Bobbie, Kathleen Marshall and Jack Viertel in a benefit celebration hosted by Christopher Fitzgerald on Monday, April 4 at The Plaza Hotel. Highlights from City Center's acclaimed Encores! series will be recreated by a star-studded cast that will include Jason Danieley, Christopher Fitzgerald, Marin Mazzie, James Naughton, Bebe Neuwirth and Emily Skinner, accompanied by members of the Encores! Orchestra under the musical direction of Rob Berman. The benefit will help fund New York City Center's artistic and education programs.

Seattle-based playwright Yussef El Guindi, author of numerous plays including Our Enemies (Osborn Award), Back of the Throat, and Jihad Jones and the Kalashnikov Babes, has been selected to receive the 2010 Middle East America Distinguished Playwright Award. Honorable mentions went to playwrights Nastaran Ahmadi, Denmo Ibrahim, Ken Kaisser, Mona Mansour, and Heather Raffo.
The prize, which is granted every other year to an American writer of a Middle Eastern background by a consortium composed of San Francisco's Golden Thread Productions, New York's Lark Play Development Center, and Chicago's Silk Road Theatre Project, comes with a $10,000 commission to write a new play of the author's choice, artistic development support for two years and possible productions at both Silk Road and Golden Thread.
