BWW Review: Don't Cry for Cabrillo's Must See EVITA
by Don Grigware - Oct 17, 2016

Tim Rice's & Andrew Lloyd Webber's Evita has had a thirty-eight year international love affair with the public since it  premiered in 1978 in London and in 1979 on Broadway. The newest revival in regional theatre is currently at Cabrillo in Thousand Oaks until October 23 only. An operetta based on Eva Duarte Peron and husband Juan Peron of Argentina, the story documents the rise to power of a simple peasant girl to the rank - almost - of Vice-President of her country. I say almost because she became too ill to accept the nomination in 1951 and passed into immortality in 1952 after a seven year reign as First Lady of Argentina, which began in 1946. Evita: criminal or saint? has been the topic of books and documentaries. BWW Review: Playhouse's BEST LITTLE WHOREHOUSE Entertains Despite Lackluster Material
by Jeff Davis - Aug 1, 2016

This particular production is winner. There's plenty to enjoy about The Playhouse's production of The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas. The campy, over-the-top farce is wildly entertaining, and overall it's a feast for the eyes and ears.

BOOB TREK! Hotsy Totsy Burlesque's Tribute to Star Trek
by Rebecca Russo - Jul 25, 2016

Before James T. Kirk was the Captain of the Enterprise, there was Captain Christopher Pike… but that was before the debilitating accident that left him unable to speak or move. Now, Captain Pike lives on the planet of Talos IV (see The Menagerie - Classic Trek Season 1 Episodes 11 & 12) and the Talosians are able to alter human brain waves, allowing Captain Pike to live out the rest of his life in a virtual fantasy land of his own design. The Talosions are also obsessed with sex (watch the episode and see for yourself); with this in mind, every month Captain Pike creates an imaginary burlesque show for the Talosians, as a way of saying thank you. But today, something has gone horribly wrong, someone who he has not imagined has infiltrated the show, her name is Lwaxana Troi, daughter of the Fifth House, holder of the Sacred Chalice of Rixx, heir to the Holy Rings of Betazed. She has come to rescue Captain Pike from his life of fantasies and offer him a real woman's love.  The question is, does he want it?
