Barrington Stage Company (BSC), the award-winning theatre in Downtown Pittsfield, MA, under the leadership of Artistic Director Julianne Boyd and Managing Director Michele Weathers, is proud to announce initial casting for the 2017 season.

The Wallis Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts (The Wallis) announced today the 2017/18 season, which features 250 performances delivering groundbreaking produced and presented works in dance, music and theater from locally, nationally and internationally renowned artists and companies.

The Guthrie Theater has announced casting for the theater's summer musical, Sunday in the Park with George. Leading the cast will be Randy Harrison (Guthrie: The Glass Menagerie) who will play French pointillist painter George Seurat, a role originated by Mandy Patinkin in the 1984 Broadway production, and Erin Mackey (Guthrie: South Pacific) who will play Seurat's lover and model, Dot, a role originated by Bernadette Peters.

Stars of stage and screen will illuminate the night sky when the Pasadena Symphony and POPS presents its annual free Music Under the Stars concert on Saturday, June 3 at Pasadena City Hall's Centennial Square.

An invitation-only reading of the new musical Temple will take place on Friday, April 28th at 3pm at Signature Theatre (rehearsal studio - 480 West 42nd Street, New York, NY 10036).  Temple features a book and lyrics by Silvia Peto, music by Norman Durkee, additional music by Constantine Kitsopoulos, and will be directed by Gabriel Barre.

On Thursday, May 11, 2017 at 7:30 pm Concerts at Saint Thomas presents the Saint Thomas Choir of Men and Boys in their final concert of the season featuring a rare performance of George Shearing's Songs and Sonnets from Shakespeare.

Now & Then Creative Company is a culmination of perceived needs in the valley, coupled with opportunities for learning and growth with students at Metropolitan Arts Institute. The 'now' focuses on new play development and film production-working with local artists on the development of plays, screenplays, workshop productions, and film productions. The 'then' produces theatre classics that speak to our present time-plays that tackle large issues to provoke conversation around social concerns. Further, I imagine the classics to be interpreted with a strong vision from directors. We are interested in producing classics with strong concepts-we are not interested in producing classics in ways that feel familiar. More to that point sometimes classics begin to feel like museum pieces-once you've seen them, you've seen them. We want to nurture an exciting, vibrant, and meaningful approach to the classics.

Ms. Melissa McCarthy will receive The Artemis Action Powerhouse Award which recognizes characters she has performed in her career that display strong, funny, and unstoppable women in film.

The House Theatre of Chicago announces its 16th season of creating 'Amazing Feats of Storytelling' held at The Chopin Theatre, 1543 W. Division St.

Before the performance of MADCO's FREEDOM took place the four choreographers who created this piece, along with Executive and Artistic Director Stacy West, took the stage to discuss the genesis of their work, and to take questions from the packed audience who gathered to witness these amazing segments. Drawing on research from Washington University's Olin Library for historical perspective, combined with the death in 2014 of Michael Brown in Ferguson, each choreographer created a unique experience that reflected on the theme of civil rights. This is an extremely timely production that was very well received by the audience in attendance. This is MADCO's 40th anniversary, and a short video which played before the dancers took the stage reinforced the vast array of incredibly talented people who have been involved in the company both onstage and off. The performance itself featured four different takes on the issues mentioned above, and it was a huge triumph.

April offers an eclectic lineup at Blue Note Hawaii, the state's premier venue for the world's most celebrated artists, continuing the series with Blood Sweat & Tears, followed up by local favorite Jake Shimabukuro, the Devon Allman Band, and Roseanne Barr ushering in the new Blue Note Comedy Series April 8th and 9th.

This year's Rough Draft Festival at LaGuardia Performing Arts features six new plays that are in the pre-production stage of development. Each of the plays has gone through readings and workshops in the past and the writers Melis Aker, Scott Barrow, Leila Buck, Kevin Doyle, Joey Merlo, Kyoung Park and their plays are ready for the next step.

Richmond Ballet returns to The Joyce Theater for the first time since 2010 to perform four NY premieres from the more than 60 works commissioned by the Company since its inception. Under the 37-year leadership of founder Stoner Winslett – one of the longest tenured artistic directors of a major American ballet company and one of the few women in this position – Richmond Ballet has grown into one of the most respected midsized companies, presenting its body of works around the world. For their 2017 New York season, the Company has selected pieces by four gifted choreographers including Chinese-born Ma Cong, Warsaw-born and New York-resident Katarzyna Skarpetowska, San Francisco-based Val Caniparoli, and Richmond Ballet's Artistic Associate, Malcolm Burn.

???????Full casting is announced today for Footloose: The Musical, which returns next month following a smash-hit 2016 tour. Opening at New Wimbledon Theatre on Friday 21 April, the tour will include a strictly limited West End season at The Peacock, playing for three weeks from Tuesday 12 September 2017. 

Berkshire Theatre Group announces the final production of its upcoming 2017 Summer Season will be Mark Medoff's Tony, Outer Critics Circle and Drama Desk Award-winning play, Children of a Lesser God, which will begin performances on Thursday, June 22 at The Fitzpatrick Main Stage. Opening night is set for Saturday, June 24 at 8pm.

Today, San Francisco Gay Men's Chorus (SFGMC) and Dr. Timothy Seelig, Artistic Director, announced the spring concert for Season 39: Community, featuring four performances of Paradise Found, running March 30 - April 1at the Herbst Theatre (401 Van Ness Avenue, San Francisco 94102).
