Tonight, June 21, the Houston Symphony will celebrate its 100th birthday on the anniversary of its first public concert by inviting all of Houston to a free Centennial 100th Birthday Concert at Miller Outdoor Theatre.

ScoBar Entertainment will present A Cabaret Full of Cahn Artists, a tribute to the great Sammy Cahn on his 100th birthday. Produced by writer Rob Lester, the evening, which consists of two different shows (8 & 10 pm) will benefit Cabaret Scenes Magazine, with all proceeds donated to Cabaret Scenes Magazine, the only print publication of its kind, its website, www.cabaretscenes.org and the non-profit Cabaret Foundation. Associate producer is Stevie Phillips. According to producer Rob Lester, this Centennial 'Cahn-cert' includes special 'Cahn-versations' about Sammy and a 'Cahn-Test' with prizes and a raffle.

On June 22, music lovers can hear another free concert by the 100-year-old Houston Symphony at Miller Outdoor Theatre as part of their ExxonMobil Summer Symphony Nights series at Miller Outdoor Theatre. The concert will feature popular works by Mozart, Tchaikovsky and Rimsky-Korsakov. Led by associate conductor Robert Franz, the concert will also feature cello soloist Christine Lamprea, a native of San Antonio and winner of the 2013 Sphinx Competition, who will make her debut with the Houston Symphony performing Tchaikovsky's technically challenging Variations on a Rococo Theme for Cello and Orchestra.

Performing Mozart's Clarinet Concerto in A major, 28-year old Israeli clarinetist Moran Katz won the 38th annual Houston Symphony League's Ima Hogg Competition on Saturday, June 1 at Rice University's Stude Concert Hall. Katz's first place win earned her a Gold Medal, the solo spotlight at Jones Hall with the Houston Symphony at the Houston Chronicle Concert on July 13 and the Grace Woodson Memorial Award of $25,000. The cash prize was increased from $5,000 to $25,000 in this year's competition, thanks to a generous gift of Symphony patrons John and Tracy Dennis. In addition to the top prize, Katz also won the $1,000 Herman Shoss Audience Choice Award and the $1,000 Robert and Nancy Peiser Award for Artistic Encouragement, which was selected by members of the Houston Symphony.

The William Inge Theatre Festival at Independence Community College takes place today, May 1-4 of 2013, in Inge's rural hometown of Independence, Kansas, where, annually, Broadway and Hollywood artists meet on the prairie to mingle with visitors from more than 24 states.

Collaborations with The National Theatre of Scotland and Tramway, as well as Arches Brick Award and Platform 18 winners, together with some of the very best interNational Theatre companies, will all feature as part of the 2013 BEHAVIOUR festival at the Arches, today, 3rd April - 11th May 2013.

A one-night stop on their 50th anniversary tour, The Chieftains will join the Houston Symphony in an unforgettable evening of Irish folk music tonight, February 15. Known for bringing in local talent while on tour, The Chieftains will be joined on stage throughout the performance by the Clear Creek High School Chamber Singers, bagpipe performers from the Houston Highlanders and NASA astronaut and flutist, Cady Coleman.
